Abertillery is home to a professional dance company - artistic director Sue Lewis tells us more

FFIN Dance is a professional repertory dance company which presents work touring throughout Wales and London. Another arm of the company is Dance Faktry which is an education and outreach programme.

What makes FFIN Dance totally unique is that it is the only professional dance company in residence in the south Wales valleys.

Working alongside various community organisations in conjunction with Blaenau Gwent Arts Development, FFIN Dance runs projects in the community led by highly trained professional dancers.

FFIN Dance - photo by Roy Campbell-Moore This works as an amazing role model for the community, as they are led by dancers whom they have seen performing in the theatre. There is a certain wow factor about this as they are experiencing very high quality professional work right on their doorstep. Two of our company dancers are actually from Blaenau Gwent where they started their dance in the form of community classes, have since undertaken training, and are now back giving to the community that enabled them initially - a real homespun success story.

FFIN Dance has triggered a rapidly growing dance culture in Blaenau Gwent, boasting some of the largest modern dance audiences in Wales - and it's all outside of Cardiff!

The company is made up of 10 dance artists and 2 technical staff with a truly international flavour: English, French, German and of course Welsh!

The company dancers have trained and performed with artists such as George Piper Dance, Yael Flexer, Ted Stoffer, Lea Anderson and company artistic director has recently undergone a choreography mentor programme with Siobhan Davies.

FFIN Dance is available for hire to perform. Each performance carries with it a workshop programme wherby the company teaches a class based on the show.
