Zoom 09 Festival

Young people learn more about film making

Last updated: 14 January 2009

Wales' third international young people's film festival begins in Pontypridd this month

Zoom 09 celebrates all things film and media. Alongside practical workshops, there's opportunities to watch films from around the world.

This media development programme offers young people from the south Wales valleys a chance to create their own film and media projects.

Zoom 09 runs from 20th to 23rd January at five venues across south Wales.

Film makers aged between 8 and 25 have been given the chance to enter the Young People's Film Awards as part of the Zoom Festival. Organisers have received over 80 entries and the winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony at Muni Arts Centre on 23rd January.

Tonypandy Community College are also working with Zoom to produce a short film which premieres at the opening of the Zoom festival in the Muni Arts Centre, Pontypridd.

The college's film focuses on environmental issues as the film makers investigate making their school greener with the ultimate goal of turning the college into a carbon neutral building.

Tickets for all events can be booked directly with the Zoom Head Office by emailing info@zoomcymru.com or telephoning 01443 413622.
