Heady Days

Duke's Arms - photo courtesy of Rae Poar

by Rae Poar

My mum and dad used to run one of Aberdare's most famous pubs called the Duke's Arms.

My mother used to love dancing at the Memorial Hall. She used to go to the Rex Cinema.

We were known as Queen of the Valleys. It's changed a lot. There's no cinemas any more, nothing left for the youngsters.
