Made up mainly of 19th century buildings, St Mary Street merges into the High Street at this junction. Now a bustling shopping street, this spot is where Cardiff's first two town halls, built in the 14th century and 1740s, stood. Not far from this point, Dic Penderyn was executed for supposedly attacking a soldier during the 1831 Merthyr Uprising.
