Helen Adams

Helen Adams Runner up in Big Brother 2001

Born:
1978
Place of Birth:
Cwmbran
Famous For:
Runner up in Big Brother 2001
"I love blinking, I do!" Helen Adams
Biography:
The fun-loving hairdresser charmed the nation with her good-natured naivety in the Big Brother house.

Helen left her job at the Classy Cutz salon in Ridgeway, Newport, in the summer of 2001 to appear in the reality TV show, promising to "bring mayhem to the house and teach them all to dance".

It wasn't all plain sailing at first as the bookies made her one of their early favourites for eviction, but Helen soon won over the viewers with her bubbly personality and sheer entertainment value.

Ratings soared as her romance with fellow housemate Paul Clarke unfolded on screen, and she became infamous for a string of innocent comments and questions known as "Helenisms".

She eventually lasted the full nine weeks of the series, being evicted on the final night just minutes before the eventual winner Brian Dowling.

Helen was the first of the class of 2001 to cash in on her new found fame, signing up for a role on satellite TV as a beauty expert.

She made a string of celebrity appearances, released an aerobics video and lent her support to a government literacy campaign - a slap in the face for those who criticised her naive comments and use of language without realising she was dyslexic.

Helen is now seeking life away from the limelight, but she returned to the headlines in summer 2006 with the news that she has split up with fellow housemate Paul Clarke after five years together.

Moment of Glory:
Leaving the Big Brother house in her sparkly "eviction outfit" to greet the cheering crowds.
Off the Record:
Whatever happened to her boyfriend Big G?

Helen Barrow
I really enjoyed wathing BB2 with Helen & Paul. I was so sad to hear they had split. Unlike all other romances from the house theirs was true love for each other. I like many others think that she should have been given a slot on daytime TV.

Karen Jones from Merseyside
Helen is fantastic and BB2 was my favorite - all down to Helen, Paul and especially Brian. I hope you get back together - you were made for each other.

Sherri Lowden from the US
I lived in the UK during Big Brother 2. I watched every moment to see what was going on with Helen and Paul. They were so great together and I can't belive they are not together anymore. I think Helen is fantastic. I find myself all these years later in America searching to see how she is doing. You are great Helen. Hope to see that you and Paul get back together.

Bristol Gal
Helen works in the hair salon where I gets my hair done!! She is lovely! Keep doin wat u doin gal!!! xxx

Mary from Newport
Best ever - where is she now?

Lee Parry, Cheshire
Never a dull moment when Helen was on the TV. She brightened up the day and gave a lot of people many many laughs and memories. I hear she is now single, but looking at recent pictures in OK Magazine I doubt she will be for long. She is looking better than ever - I wouldn't mind a date with her myself given the chance!

Gerrie, Folkestone
I've seen Mr Clarke without you Helen. He's lost. You HAVE to go and find him and get back together. My friend has seen you in Clifton and she says that you look really sad. What on earth are you two playing at? If you hate the limelight so much as a couple, emigrate or something, but for goodness sake, get back together. As the late, great John said: 'Love is all you need'.

Clare B from Retford
I think Helen is lovely - I miss not seeing her on the telly and in mags. I like Paul as well but he's lost more than Helen has. I do hope they get back together. Thanks to Helen I'm not ashamed to be pink crazy. Good luck lovely in whatever you do.

Dorie
Listen very carefully Helen... You just HAVE to get back with Mr Clarke. He is a broken man without you. I've seen him. You were meant to be together. You know you still love him. Pick up the phone, or get in your little car. Don't be too stubborn or too proud. You will regret it for the rest of your life if you don't. I just KNOW it. Go and make some babies - don't be scared - you'll love them!

Leanne, Bristol
I saw Helen today at the Cribbs Causeway Mall. she is so down to earth and doesn't walk around as though she is something special. She just blends in. I often see her in Clifton too and she always looks great.

Jay from Bristol
Still think Helen is wicked. Seen her in Tesco in Clifton village the other day - she has got it all.

Nadine from Weymouth
I cant fault her, she is great to look at, and her ways are so attractive. Can't understand how they let her go. She won't lost out I'm sure.

Sadie, Cwmbran
Helen was a fab housemate and a total legend! Thanks for teaching me to dance when I was younger and you looked fab at Brean back in April - sorry to hear you've split from Paul. Love, Sadie xxx

Nat from Cornwall
Helen, you are definitely the funniest and most genuine Big Brother housemate ever! Please get back with Paul! He's really fit and you two are meant to be.

Jo from Notts
I am still reeling from news of the Paul/Helen split. It is so sad and I am sure a big mistake for both of them. I have never seen a couple so happy in each other's company. I doubt sincerely either will ever find a relationship so close or loving, and importantly so much fun. Life is too short to stand back and wait for whatever your perception of 'perfect' is. Please, for your own sakes as well as ours P&H go for a holiday together somewhere anonymous and remember how good you are together. Kirsty and Phil can find the compromise on living arrangements, but only you two can find each other again. Don't throw it away - make beautiful babies and live happily ever after together.

Diane Young, East Kilbride
So sorry to hear that Helen & Paul have split. I never forgot how much pleasure I had watching BB2. They would often come into my mind & I would think about them & hope they were happy and still together. They were perfect together I do hope they may try again - they are soulmates and such lovely people. I'm so sad this has happened.

Brenda from Malpas, Newport
If only the latest BB had the charm of the earlier ones. I watched BB from the beginning and like everyone else thought that Helen was natural, what you saw was what you got. She was entertaining as were the original BBs. I watched a couple of the last two BBs and could not find anything remotely entertaining, just loud mouthed people being awful for the majority of the time. No more BB for me unless they change the format again!!!

Declan from Chepstow
Helen sorry to hear about your split from Paul. Come back to good old South Wales - there will always be a big welcome for you in Chepstow.

Dawn from Eastbourne
Just heard about the split between Helen and Paul. I hope it's not permanent - if ever a couple were made for each other it's them. Does anyone know if they are still friends?

Kerryanne, Newport
The Big Brother show has gone downhill and is no longer as interesting as it was. For me, Helen was one of the best housemates to appear in BB. I think BB1 was the best.

Dave Clancy from Wollongong Australia
Never met Helen or Paul and Never even saw the show, Helen obviously has a hugh following in the UK. So here is one more from Australia. It sounds as if your BB is much better than the Aussie version of BB. Helen, if you can get out of the limelight do it and do it now, if you don't you're stuck for life, in which case you may as well enjoy it.

Adele Fretti, Derby
Best person to have ever been in the BB house! Would love to see her more!! Adele xxx

Robert Sims, Resolven, S.Wales
I think that Helen is still one of the most talked about housemate of Big Brother. We need to see more of her ... if Jade can do the TV thing and rake in the money ... I am SURE that Helen can do the same thing!

Rajah Kapoor, Newport
Can't believe Helen Adams and Paul Clarke have split up after a five-year relationship, I always knew Helen was made for me.

Emma Louise Hyde, Abergavenny
I think Helen is a fab person and I think it's a shame we don't see more of her on TV. I walk past Classy Cutz every week and I think o my god, Helen has been in there! Helen keep on going girl - your big fan Emma.

Sophie from ponty
I love you I do mind ! Im one of your biggest fans on big brother and voted for you loads. Welsh are the funniest people alive !! love you Sophie

Leanne from Newport
Helen was the best house mate ever. I still think BB2 was the best, Helen was so entertaining to watch. I loved it, I did.

Wejo
Here we go, Big Brother 2006. Gimmicks. Nobodies in celebrity BB, celebrities in nobody BB. Still, shining through, the one and only unmitigated, natural, absolute sweetie of a BB star, Helen Adams. Forgotten in the shadow of the far more savvy than she looks Ms Goody. A serious media opportunity lost. She was destined to be a star. Let's hope she is at least a happy and fulfilled wife to Mr Clarke and mother to his children.

Sharon Winter from Cambridge
I loved Helen. Even after all these years BB 2 was the best. Can't wait for BB 2006.

Westy from Cwmbran
Helen gave Cwmbran five minutes of fame. Who can argue with that?

saier from newcastle
you are so cool you can cook and you can do hair

Clare from Cwmbran
It was a joy to watch especially as I am from Cwmbran myself, I hope she does well in everything she does.

Keith Barber
Helen was great fun and her romance with Paul Clarke was good TV viewing- Bring Helen back on TV.

Lisa Campbell
Every BB I watch I compare to BB2. Without a doubt BB2 was the best. Helen is a true star and Paul Clarke is a very lucky man to have Helen. When are you two going to get wed so we can at least see you on the covers of OK? Also, may I say, I still am proud to wear my 'i like blinking' t shirt that I won in a BB comp. Come back Helen, we need real entertainment.

Mia from Nottingham
Can't believe that TV chiefs have let this girl slip through the nets. She is so effervescent, so personable and would be wonderful in a children's presenter role. Children adore her! We need to get our children active and she would have them BOUNCING around at home. How about a children's Strictly Disco Dancing with Helen?? Love and best wishes to her and her Mr Clarke! I bet she still sees the lights!!

Rhiannon from Cwmbran
well i think helen is fabulous i am in skoolmwif her neice n she is gr8 2 i fink helen should be on telly more often. its gr8 seeing one of our local girls being famous. good luck for the future x x x x

Sam from Cwmbran
She's an absolute embarrasment to her country and she should never be allowed out in public again until her IQ reaches double figures at least.

Emma Gould from Cwmbran
Helen is Fab. I thought she was brill in the house. I hope she is doing well now.

paul from cwmbran
yeah but no but yeah but no but yeah shes really fit and she can blink for me anytime

Jim from Caerleon
I luved bb2! her and paul make a great couple! Helen should be on our TVs now!

Cathy B, Newport
She's a top bird! Get her back on the screens !!

Jo, Bristol
Helen is a gem. And her and Paul are one of the best couples to get it together on TV!

Bob from Caerleon
I know her brother and they are both really nice. I also met her a few years ago and she was really nice! PUT HELEN BACK ON OUR TVs!!!!!!

Bernardo N from Enfield
I believe on tuesdays at about 6 pm Helen and her lovely frend Natelie G, run a childrens krish at L.A.Fitness in East Barnet. Don't believe me go and check it out.

Paul from Ponty
What's she doing now?

Penny from London
Gone but not forgotten.

Undisclosed
I knew Helen, because she used to work in Classy Cutz in Newport. She's loud, but nice.

Shell from Manchester
I loved BB2 with Helen and Paul. She's amazing, gorgeous and funny!!! I think she should have her own chat show that would be good. I think they make a great couple and can't wait to see the pictures in OK magazine. They should do a show on what they're up to now because we don't really hear of them as much which is a shame.

Michaela from Lincolnshire
I absolutly adore Helen Adams she is fantastic. I love her shes the best Big Brother contestant by far. I think she should have her own t.v. programme and we should see us more. I hope to see her one day.

David from Wigan
Everything about this girl makes you smile, never seen anyone on TV that has stuck in my thoughts more. A real lady.

Dawn from Tonyrefail
Wow, what can i say, its 2005 and a few more BB's have come and gone, but still Miss Helen Adams and Mr Paul Clark sticks in my mind as my all time favourites! Helen is so innocent and fresh we've seen nothing like her since, what a shame she doesn't grace our TV screens anymore! Bring her back!

Jo from Cardiff
Helen is a TV natural and yet she's been absent from our screens for Far too long.TV execs should be falling over themselves to nab this funny, unpretentious, beautiful and entertaining girl for presenting. She was the best BB contestant they've ever had.

Scarlet, Brecon
This woman is an embarressment to all things Welsh! It's because of people like her that the Welsh get such bad press!

Jane Henton from Neath
Helen was the best ever contestant on big brother, she was so funny and happy and a pleasure to watch. I can't wait till her and paul get married, the photos will be amazing to see.

Jim from Newport
An embarrasment to her country. The only worse thing that has come out of Wales in the M4. And even that has a bigger IQ.

Jack Bass from Essex
Helen was without a doubt my favourite all time BB contestant, I am a little surprised that her & Paul haven't been asked to do a fly on the wall documentary for Sky, would love to know how they are getting on now, love Helen & Paul both, glad their relationship has lasted, shows they are both genuine.

Neil, Worcester
Top girl!

Leanne Flicker from Bargoed (South Wales)
She is so down to earth, really lovely. Come on TV companies, get her back on our screens please, please. Her and Paul really suit each other, hope to see their wedding pictures in my fave mag OK very soon. She is exactly the same age as me and her birthday is in May like mine, so Helen if your ever in Bargoed or anywhere and you love to meet up , I would be so excited.

Andrew from Boldon
She can be a bit weird although she is fit.

Ian from Newport
I saw Helen the other day in town! Would love to see her back on my TV - she was such a great girl on BB2.

Dave C from Newport
Top babe!!

Cathy, Nottingham
Where IS Helen? We make stars out of nobodys and yet Helen is allowed to slip back into obscurity.

Tabloids, please listen:
I don't care about Jade
I don't care about Michelle and Stu - where was the will they, won't they? We all knew they would and and we even saw it!
I want to see Helen. Bless her and her lovely, loyal, honourable Mr Clarke. BRING THEM BACK IMMEDIATELY!!

hay
brillllllllllllllllllliiiiiiiiiaaaaaannnnnnt she is wicked and so funny and kind she might think and act a bit dumb ans silly but up in that head she is smart

xxx
i think shes funny and pretty she cud become big

Ricky Jackson, Barry
I love ya Hel, you are my most fav BB person ever. U really have it all, looks, style, personality and Welsh. Hope 2 see more of you on tv.

Han from Cwmbran
I think Helen is really funny - typical Cwmbran girl! It's a shame she doesn't live here anymore.

Jessy Gould from Caerwent
I think Helen is the best thing to come out of South Wales, and I am very proud to be from the some country as her. You go girl.

Amy from Caerphilly
OH MY GOD where shall I start. I love Helen. Everyone says I follow her coz I'm bubbly like her too, but if I am, I'm well and truly honoured coz since Big Brother she's been my role model. I love her to bits. She's got everything going for her - looks, job and the man- he's gorgeous! Good luck Helen - ever in Caerphilly let me know - I'd love to meet you - be happiest day of my life.

Brian from Cwmbran
She is a lovely girl, and her mum is great too, always so nice...Helen, thanks for giving my daughter Rebecca her first hair cut. x

P Clarke from Hounslow
She and Paul made Big Brother. There will never be another Helen & Paul. Where are u now u two!

Thelma Gemmell from Hull & London
I so enjoyed this lass! But the incident which had me helpless was where she was in the kitchen area, washing the dishes - there must have been a camera hidden in the wall above the sink. Paul was standing nearby and after she made one of her nutty remarks, he said 'You must run on batteries'. She stopped her dish-washing and looked up and stared blankly ahead, at the wall - obviously into the camera but without realising it - and said 'Batteries...' with a deep question in her head! I could not stop laughing. She's a natural - and without planning a single bit of it!!!

Jo in Gloucestershire
Helen is definitely the best contestant to have ever graced our screens on Big Brother, no-one will ever match up. I think Helen and Paul deserve a slot as the new Richard and Judy. What more could we want? Sparkly, funny, bubbly and a natural couple! Roll on the wedding in OK!

Alys from Newport
When I watched Big Brother she woz definitely my favourite! My little sister and I loved her and being a Welsh gal I'm soooo proud!! I hope she comes back on our TV screens soon!!

Donnie and Marion from Alloa
We met Helen on holiday - we really enjoyed the company of her and her friends. We would like her to contact us - the nice Scottish couple.

Benni from Stevenage
Bless her, I am amazed she is no longer a regular on our screens. She was undoubtedly the nost natural and uncontrived reality TV show participant ever! I was captivated by her no-holds barred affront on the man of her dreams (the scrummy and also SADLY missed Mr Clarke) on National TV. And by golly, she got him! I feel that shows like GMTV are extremely short-sighted in not keeping her at the forefront. She is fresh, optimistic and funny. Everything you could possibly want from a daytime TV presenter. The only consolation for not seeing her on TV would be seeing her wedding photo to Paul in Hello magazine, very, very soon.

Andrea
Just watching her used to make me laugh. She's a true star and a beautiful lady. Well done Helen!

Val from the South West
She made Lorraine's show. I loved all the insights we got into her and Paul's lives. Who could forget Valentines Day when she lost her bet because she couldn't resist chocolates...or when she tied apples up for a spell to keep her man. She knocks the spots off the other so-called Big Brother housemate celebrities. Bring back Helen. There have been so many times when I have seen presenters and thought our Helen could do that. Can't someone give her a chance - please.

Jill from Plymouth
Helen was so lovely on Big Brother 2. We don't get to see her very much now and I think that's a shame. Why she couldn't have been transfered to GMTV on the Lorraine slot I don't know. Lorraine seemed to get on very well with her, and Helen really enjoyed herself on the programme. No airs and graces, such a natural girl. Many of us were hoping Mr Clarke would have joined her one morning but it wasn't to be. Now it is too late. Come on all you TV people, give our Helen a chance.

Roger from Herefordshire
Yep, she's a little star. More power to her elbow.

Ros in Alberta, Canada
Being a Welsh lass myself and very proud of it, I found Helen a breath of fresh air. I for one miss her dearly. Since leaving the UK in 2001, I've wondered how she is getting on after Big Brother. I wish she could brighten Canadian TV up as she did in the UK. Good luck Helen - go for it girl!

Brenda from Newport
She's a local lass from Cwmbran, who the Sun described as 'a national treasure' - praise indeed. Plus she has been involved in much charity work and is still very popular. She deserves the recognition!!

Sara
The girl is pure class!! She's funny, sparkly and to top it all she's head over heels in love. You go, H!

Sarah from Swansea
Helen is a genuine star! Not pretentious or arrogant - just a really nice proud Welsh girl. She should be on TV more!!

Mairi from the Wirral
I absolutely loved Helen in the house. She was sweet, innocent and very funny and her romance with Paul Clarke had me glued to my seat. I'm so pleased that they are still together now. I think Helen is an absolute star and would love to see more of her on the TV.

Jane Clifford from Birmingham
I thought that Helen was a sweet girl who made me laugh out loud at her honesty, and her bubbly cheerful personality made her the true winner of Big Brother 2. I would dearly love to see her on our television screens again. Perhaps helping to present a TV show for BBC Wales?

Sue from Manchester
She was natural, funny and sparkly. There was no pretence with her and you got exactly what you saw. Since she's been out of the house she brought her bubbly personality to the TV screen on Lorraine Kelly's show on Sky, which has now sadly been cancelled. We need to see Helen back on our TV screens. She's such a natural person that she'd be ideal on morning TV - doing makeovers, chatting with people- she'd certainly put Joe Public at their ease. A campaign to get Helen back on TV should start as soon as possible!!

Jo Horne from Worksop
I absolutely loved Helen in BB2, and have enjoyed seeing her in all her appearances on TV since. She has such energy and enthusiasm. I think it's a great pity we don't see more of her. Come on BBC Wales, brighten up your screen with some Helen Adams!

Rachel from Staffordshire
She has remained down to earth and not let her celebrity status change her. She deserves to be on our screens much more than she has been - after all she won millions of votes whilst in Big Brother and sold record numbers of newspapers, which goes to show that she is a hit with young and old alike. I would love to see more of Helen on TV - she has the ability to light up the screen without even knowing she is doing it.

Avril from the UK
I would be so proud if I had a daughter like Helen. We should see more of her on TV. She has natural charm coupled with a youthful innocence that is such a pleasure to see.
