Phillip Neil Selway
- Biography:
-
Inspires young and disabled people in the art of judo.
Councillor Lyndon Lloyd Irwin
has nominated Phillip as a community hero:
"He is a very self-effacing man, skilled in the art of Judo. He has devoted himself for the last eight years to teaching the sport to young people and those with disabilities.
The title of his course is "Integrated Judo" and he has been appointed to teach the art to partially sighted and blind pupils. He is ably supported by his daughter who is as devoted to teaching the sport to both able and disabled students, as is Phillip himself. Phillip is further supported by his wife in imparting knowledge of the sport to his pupils.
Phillip travels extensively in his role of teaching judo - both in the UK and overseas.
I am certain that Phillip deserves the title of 'unsung hero to the community of Pontypool'."
- Moment of Glory:
- Assisted Sarah Gratton to a silver medal in Bejing.
