1969
Place of Birth:
Nantyglo
Famous For:
Rock god and finalist in TV series The Biz
"I'm an extreme entertainer. To survive I need £15,000 per annum and £290 per week." Ivor Beynon
Biography:
A rock musician who's trying to to turn his cult stage act into a living via BBC Wales TV series The Biz.

The Lord of Steel might be described as Kiss meets Simon Schama.

Ivor's show consists of performances of heavy rock classics requested by the crowd, and stories from Welsh history.

He even has a legion of followers called the Welsh Knights - but is the rock 'n' roll lifestyle is compatible with a successful business?

Ivor Beynon poster in NewportIvor hoped to prove so by applying to take part in The Biz, a BBC Wales TV series to find the best homegrown business ideas in Wales.

He made it through to the final but failed to lift the title despite plenty of wellwishers rooting for him throughout South East Wales.

Ivor has done a variety of jobs in the past, including ten years on the production line at a chicken factory.

Married and living in Abertillery, Ivor is a clean-living role model and has his finger in a lot of pies.

He is currently working on a plan to bring every local community in Wales its own skate park.

As a rock fashion guru Ivor has also been recently featured in the style magazine Dazed and Confused.

Although he didn't take the £10,000 first prize in The Biz, the TV showcase is certain to have given Ivor a boost with many more new fans set to join his army of followers.

You gave my geography class a tour around South East Wales. I have to say, it was great fun, and to get a copy of your cd was fantastic. I hope you go onto bigger and better things, you certainly deserve it.

Morbid Dai from Ebbw Vale
I've seen Ivor Beynon's shows more times than I can remember. What a cracking bloke. He never disappoints if you're after a good night of laughter then you should check him out. Come back to Ebbw please - I miss the days of the parties in the Beaufort Ballroom and Hill Top club. When's the next CD out? Come on Ivor, Knight of Steel!

Sir Prof, Newport
To our lord HRH Ivor Beynon. Where have you gone? Gone are the days when you would visit us in the legendary TJ's where we would all rock out with our air guitars on the stage as Maiden was blasting our ear drums into oblivion. It is a travesty and you must return. Return I say!!!

Chris Wilkinson, Cwmbran

Never seen you personally, but one day I'd love to! I watched that program where you played in Spain and I honestly feel you were treated most unfairly! There aren't many people out in the music scene that have the guts to put on a real performance and take time to work a crowd! yYu may not be supporting Iron Maiden just yet, but play some gigs in Cardiff mate and you'll have a very warm reception! keep the faith my friend!

George, England

Ivor, you're living the dream we all wish we had the balls to live. You are respected in the hearts of every rocker or metal head who's ever felt this music running through them - whether they tell you or not. Only we know what our music means to us, and you are the voice for us all - they cannot kill what cannot die, and to the man who's heart of steel came from a blood red dragon...thank you! Your music lives on through us all.

Paul Sainsbury from Brynmawr
I've got your album - I think it rocks, and think We Are The People (of Planet Earth) should be released as a single.
