Have your say

John Tynan from Ireland via Paris
Again no relative I'm afraid but a relation in the sense that I'm married to an opera singer: Mrs Tynan aka Sharon Cooper who was the UK critics selection of singer of the year (Manchester Evening News trophy) a few years ago...

emily your neice

Max Wickert from Buffalo, NY
I went with a friend to hear your wonderful Queen's Hall recital in the Edinburgh Festival. The Grieg was lovely, the Debussy and Poulenc stylish, and we even loved your rendition of "O Danny Boy" (a song which often makes us whince). But the Strauss lieder above all made us both weep with pleasure. Thanks for both of us.

Aelysh McFayden from Wexford
Go Ailish! You have the best voice eva!

Olivia Craig from London
Congrats Ailish...Sister Therese must be very proud of you!. I happened to glance you on the telly and did a double take. You were brilliant.

Liam Tynan from Nottingham

Ailish - you've come a long way from the West Belfast Music Bursary when you made my mum cry with "Wee Hughie"! Wish I'd seen your performance on the TV. Thanks for representing the country so successfully!

Michele Whelan- Mullingar

Mags from Derry
Heard you being intrviewed on Lyric FM this afternoon. You sang the Last Rose of Summer. Well done Ailish and good luck in the future

Frances Reilly, Lanarkshire
In not being included in the main competition and not being televised, the song competition has not 'been elevated' it has been sidelined. People who agree with me please make your feelings known.

Denis Costello from Lyric fm Ireland
Delighted for you on your success Ailish. You deserve it. Every good wish in the future and looking forward to hearing lots of you this way soon. Regards from all of us here.

Oliver Soden from Glyndebourne

Ann, Mike and merlin fromLewes
Absolutely thrilled to see you win the song prize at Cardiff - will miss you and Camilla and chats on the roof at St Anne`s Crescent this summer, but we`re looking forward to buying your first CD!

Kathleen Moreton from Surrey
Just back from Cardiff-and heard Ailish in the Song Concert-and thought her programme the most polished of everyone. Also heard the Master Class and appreciated how Ailish could now spin the top of her voice, thanks to the fantastic teaching of Gundala Janowitz. Ailish must have lessons with her in order for Gundala to pass on her skills.

Frances Reilly
Extremely disappointing that there is no television coverage of the Lieder singing. The previous format was fine, with arias interspersed with lieder. This very important prize has been awarded with the vast majority of people not being able to hear or sea it. The morning radio broadcasts were not at a suitable time for most people.

Tessa Spong from Cornwall
Congratulations Ailish! I thought you really deserved it and great singing. Bravo!

Riah and Nyle Wolfe in Germany
Ailish - absolutely thrilled for you! Well done and continued success....

Valerie, Caithness
Ailish, you were great! Thank you for representing the celts on this earth - you did us proud. Are you ever coming to perform in Glasgow/Edinburgh? I look forward to hearing you live.

Lila Guha (London)
Congratulations! Glad Ailish got the song prize. Hoping to be able to hear her live some time soon.

After first hearing Ailish Tynan on "In Tune" BBC R 3 and completely falling in love with her voice and her delightful personality I had been saying my prayers for her in this competition and give thanks to Almighty God that he has answered them! I have never been happier!

Donal Sweeney -Tallaght Choral Society. Dublin
Congratulations Ailish. I didn't know you were in the competition. Got a great suprise to see you. Not surprised that you won Song Prize. Yours is a voice that is going to win many more admirers. Doanl

Mary Tynan
Ailish is my cousin, and I first heard her sing over 15 years ago. Up the Tynans!

Don from London
Having loved Ailish's recent performance at the ROH, it was a joy to listen to her recital on BBCR3. Such character and genuine emotion. I wish her luck for the final (I'm sure that she will be there). A note to congratulate her accompanist too, very fine!!

Katya from London
Complitely agree with Millicent! TOI TOI TOI dear Ailish!

Millicent from Sydenham
Ailish Tynan is a wonderful singer and is quite a character as anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting her will know. She has a beautiful instrument and an honesty that makes for thrilling and heartfelt performances. I hope to see her in the final, she deserves it. What a talent! Good Luck Titch!

Did you know...
Irish flag The Republic of Ireland has only missed one Competition, in 1995. They had a finalist at the first Competition back in 1983 - Patricia Bardon - who, at eighteen, was one of the two youngest singers ever to take part.
