A fascinating opportunity to experience legendary singers working with some of the outstanding voices of a new generation |

The masterclasses were introduced in 1993 and have become an important feature of the Competition.
Taking part are some of the contestants who don't reach the Final, who are encouraged and advised by members of the Competition jury.
Gundula Janowitz with Ailish Tynan
Dennis O'Neill with Cosmin Ifrim and Nils Olsson
Sherrill Milnes with Jacques-Greg Belobo, Lauren Skuce and Cleo Mitilineou.
The competitors receive half an hour each of intensive coaching on a piece from their repertoire. The masterclasses take place in front of an audience who get a glimpse of the real person, discover how the stars of opera approach their art and learn the technical tips that transform a performance.
For the singers it is an extraordinary opportunity. Often the masters are their heroes.
Teddy Tahu Rhodes (baritone, New Zealand) on his masterclass with Sherrill Milnes in 1999: "I really wish I'd had the chance to have the masterclass before I went on stage, because it would have helped me immensely."
The masterclasses took place in the New Theatre on Saturday 28 June, and you can read Graeme Kay's account of them in his Diary.
