Health care assistants or nursing auxiliaries support registered nurses and other medical staff in caring for patients. While they may not need science based qualifications they will be instructed in the basis of patient care.

This will include basic nutrition, reading temperatures, monitoring Pulse and respiration, dealing with infections and learning about general health and safety regulations. While employed, health care assistants may again qualifications such as NVQs in care.
