The Latest update from Wales@work

Fishing Industry

It's one of Wales' oldest sectors - but the fishing industry is struggling to survive as costs rise and seafood prices remain the same.

Wales now has only around 600 working fishermen and most of them work on smaller boats around the coastline catching crab and lobster.

But the pressure on the industry is increasing every year. The Common Fisheries Policy allows trawlers from all over the EU to fish in Welsh waters - and it's having an effect on fish stocks.

Wales@Work presenter Nick Servini travels around Pembrokeshire to see what can be done to save this industry and what the future is for the people who still make a living on the sea.
