Peter Johnson is one of the best-known voices in Welsh broadcasting.

Peter has been covering Wales and the world for BBC Wales since the late 1970s. Currently, he hosts Eye on Wales and the Sunday Edition programme for Radio Wales and he can be seen occasionally as a television reporter for Week In Week Out.

But most of Peter's time is spent travelling Wales gathering material for the current affairs series Eye on Wales.

Peter's association with the programme has been a long one. He was the presenter of the investigation into a miscarriage of justice known as the case of the Gurnos Three, which won a BT Welsh Press Award for the programme in 1999.

After taking a degree in politics at the University of Exeter, Peter Johnson trained as a journalist on his local paper - the Pontypridd Observer.

He then spent a year on the Western Mail before moving into broadcasting with the BBC Wales news team in 1977.

He worked as producer and reporter in television and radio news and began daily radio presenting on the drive time programme 456.

Later he moved into the presenter's chair for the breakfast slot, as a stand in for the departed Chris Stuart. A six-month temporary job turned into a 12-year stint, fronting both Weekday Wales and its successor Good Morning Wales.

Peter is married to Jean and they have two adult daughters. His hobbies include watching his hometown rugby team, films and jazz.
