Radio Wales Phone-In Update

On Thursday's Phone-In

SHOULD TERRORISTS EVER BE RELEASED ON COMPASSIONATE GROUNDS? The Lockerbie bomber, Abdelbasset al Megrahi, is likely to be freed as he has terminal cancer. The Scottish Government insists no decision has been made. But there was mounting speculation that Megrahi, who is serving a life term with a minimum of 27 years, could go free on compassionate grounds as early as next week, in time for the start of Ramadan. So, should he be released? What does this mean politically? 03700 100 110 or text 81012.

COULD YOU LIVE ON £64,000 A YEAR? A senior Tory has "unreservedly apologised" after claiming that MPs are having to survive "on rations" since the expenses' scandal. In a secret recording, Alan Duncan, is also heard to say he doesn't think "capable" people will go into politics anymore because the money's not good enough. He was secretly filmed a few months ago, complaining about how MPs have been treated over the expenses row. He's since apologised, but is he right?

IS THERE TOO MUCH SPORT ON NEWS PROGRAMMES? Broadcaster and writer and Radio 4 regular, Sandi Toksvig, is calling for televised sports bulletins to be abolished. She says in this week's Radio Times, "Every night I find I've just settled down to find out what's happening in the world when the newscaster declares, 'And here's someone you've never heard of with the sport'. Why not have five minutes each broadcast about some other leisure interest? I love embroidery. " Is Sandi right? Or do you need your sports round up every evening or every half an hour if you watch rolling news channels?
