Everest Phone Call
If you've ever complained about patchy mobile coverage, spare a thought for Rod Baber, the man who's just set the record for the world's highest phone call - from the summit of Everest. We last spoke to him in April just before he embarked on his attempt. In this week's programme Adam gives him a call from a few feet above sea level at the mousemat studio in Wrexham to find out how it went - and how exactly you send a text from 29000 feet when you're wearing three pairs of gloves!
Social Networking for Grown-Ups
Who said that social networking was just for teenagers? Sites like MySpace and Bebo may be dominated by teens but there are plenty of others which cater to older age groups. Web User magazine has been reviewing some of the best sites and Robert Irvine from the magazine joins Adam to give his verdict. Here are Web User's top three:
Me And My Avatar
In online games like Second Life you can be whoever you want to be: you can adopt a completely different persona and live out your fantasies. That persona is represented by an avatar - the physical expression of your virtual character. Photo-journalist Robbie Cooper has been traveling all over the real world - and several virtual worlds - to photograph game players and their avatars for his book Alter Ego: Avatars and their Creators and he tells Adam about his experiences on this week's programme.
And while we're on the subject of Second Life, writer and technology guru Rhodri Marsden recounts his experiences of the virtual world (where the population has just passed the seven million mark) and asks whether it's actually just another monumental internet-based waste of time.
