Inspired by Adam Walton's 'Espresso Science' experiments on Science Café, we wanted to have a go at kitchen based science ourselves.

So, armed with only a soft drink can, a hob, a pot of cold water, and those essential safety glasses, we had a go at crushing a can without exerting any physical force on it ourselves. The experiment is supposed to demonstrate the kind of atmospheric pressures one would experience on the surface of Venus but really, we just wanted to see a can get crushed in a really cool way.
