Only Boys Aloud

The boys from Cwmbran at rehearsal

BBC Radio Wales has been following the birth of a new youth choir, Only Boys Aloud.

Created by Tim Rhys Evans and Only Men Aloud, approximately 120 boys between the ages of 14 and 19 have been taking part, drawn from areas across the south Wales valleys. The boys were split up into ten choirs: Aberdare, Caerphilly, Cross Hands, Cwmbran, Ebbw Vale, Maesteg, Neath, Pontypridd, Treorchy and Ystradgynlais.

The choirs joined together for their grand performance at the opening concert of the National Eisteddfod in Ebbw Vale on Friday 30 July, where they sang Calon Lân, Sospan Fach and Don't Stop Believing.

Listen to the concert on BBC Radio Wales on Sunday August 1st at 8 PM and on the BBC iPlayer for seven days after.

Here on the website you can find exclusive behind the scenes audio, video and photographs.
