In "All Things Considered" on Sunday 22 November at 8.30am (repeated Wednesday 25 November at. 6.30 pm) Roy Jenkins looks at an issue which alarms many people and frightens others.
Around 700,000 people in Britain suffer from dementia. With an ageing population, the total is increasing rapidly, and with it concern for the way people with the condition are being treated. There are many protests at perceived failures of medical and social care, but what about the dimension which can easily be overlooked, that of spiritual care? How important is it and just how can it be delivered?
Also in the programme Roy hears about an aid mission, run by members of a church in Brecon, which takes aid to gypsy families in Hungary.
