Newtown Concert

Updated: 26 September 2008

BBC National Orchestra of Wales return to Newtown to play Vaughan Williams

Sunday 28 September, 3pm, marks the return of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales to Theatr Hafren, Newtown to play Vaughan Williams and Mozart classics.

Vaughan Williams' popular 'The Overture' from his first piece of incidental music created for Aristophanes' great satire 'The Wasp's'. Light hearted and full of catchy tunes 'The Overture' avoids taking itself too seriously and allows the audience to simply relax and enjoy.

The concert is conducted by Grant Llewellyn, a regular with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales who will also lead the Orchestra through two of Mozart's classics, Rondo in C and Violin Concerto No 2. Grant is joined by soloist and Orchestra Leader Lesley Hatfield who has recently been awarded a fellowship from the Royal Academy of Music.

The Orchestra will also be touring to Aberystwyth, Bangor, Llandudno and Wrexham between 6 November and 9 November.

Tickets for this concert are available from the BBC National Orchestra of Wales Audience Line on 0800 052 1812 or Theatr Hafren Box Office on 01686 625007.
