BBC/FAW Premier Cup Round 1
The performace of both teams during the previous month's league encounter suggested a physical and not too elegant match, and that's what happened on a stormy night at the Oval. The winner came deep into first half injury time when Martyn Chalk's 35 yard angled drive flew past keeper Andy Mulliner. Caernarfon were the better side throughout and managed to pass the ball well despite the horrendous conditions. They had the best chances of the first half, with Lee Jones volleying over and shooting straight at Mulliner from 18 yards.
But Caersws's Graham Evans missed the chance of the match when he mis-cued the ball from two yards and sent it wide of the post.
During the second half Caernarfon took control of the match and could have scored again had Aaron Thomas's powerful shot not come off the woodwork. Caernarfon deservedly go through to the next round, to be joined in the hat by last season's top sides in the Welsh Premier, along with Newport County.
