The infamous 'Mouth' is one of the most consistent spots in the area and picks up any swell running. There are waves to be had at both ends of this beach, but the Northern end tends to be where the better surfers head for.
The far corner holds steep hollow barrels resembling Broadhaven South. Like Broadhaven, the bigger swells hit the coast and refract off the cliffs forming perfect powerful wedges.
On big blown out days head for the opposite end where a smaller more manageable wave - "Fishermans" can often be found.

can anyone tell me of a decent campsite in hells mouth that will accomodate a 12 month old well behaved german shepherd.

Every 'single' time Ive gone to Hells Mouth, if there are waves then it is rough white water with large breaking waves. Watching today, the good surfers went far out but only occasionally caught a suitable wave and then after a few seconds the wave broke and they got mashed in the rough stuff. No time for carving etc. Is this typical for Hells mouth? I'd love to surf but it doesn't look like good surfing to me! Prevailing wind direction is onshore. Maybe you have to get there at day break or something?

Hell's Mouth still brings back a lot of memories. Re Fred & Dave, the old days when you knew everyone out in the water and at the campsite. Had some great parties and North West Surf Club get togethers there.....and good surf too.Anyone remember the annual club contest that was cancelled because the surf was toooo good & no one wanted to sit & judge?

hells mouth was my favorite surfspot 20+ years ago, the break was fantastic when the conditions were right, with a sunset to match any hawaiian backdrop! there was a great bunch of surfers,(pete the meat where are you!) the boys used to organise surf comp and buy a special pressie for me for being the only surfergirl!those were the days!im back into surfing now at 42 and hope to surf the mouth again real soon.

Looking for a quiet campsite right on the beach, preferably Porth Neigwl (Hells Mouth) or anywhere on Pen Llyn. Could anyone help, preferably farmers field or small site. Names, numbers or just a grid ref would be great!
