The Southerly facing bay is generally only worth a look when the rest of the Peninsular is huge. Take a look on the incoming tide as there could just be some rideable peaks.

you can launch a boat at aberdaron but dont launch or recover at low tide because of problems floating the boat on or off the trailer. also watch out for the sand, it changes with every tide. one day it's hard the next it's soft; u need a 4x4 really although years ago i launched with a car. u get a lot of people watching u and i can guarantee when ur driving up the slip someone will get in ur way just as u have got the momentum up and then it's hard to get a grip to start again.

Lynne Callow - I think you should be ok to take a dog on the beach now, there is a sign on the slipway that tells you. I'm not 100% sure, but you may have to keep your dog to the left hand side of the beach as you face the sea.
Jan Chadwick - yes you can launch boats from Aberdaron, keep to the left hand side of the beach after going down the slipway.
Moody locals? I've found most of the Lleyn locals to be perfectly friendly, of course if you're going to talk down to them or slag off their language then they're going to get stroppy!

What a wonderful place.
The church of St Hywyn's is really worth a visit. I find it incredible to think of all the people who have made a pilgrimage to this beautiful place. Many would have stopped for food where we now all have a cup of coffee. To tread in these footsteps is a privilege. The church has now been restored to its former glory thanks to the hard work of the people of Aberdaron - well done to all concerned!

Aberdaron is a realy nice place to stay, fantastic scenery & the the sea is also very clean. I look foward to going there every year. The locals are very nice if you take the time to speak to them. Aberdaron is a MUST see.

Our family bought a cottage on the Rhiw road back in the late 50s and we have spent so much of our time in Aberdaron over the years, and loved every minute of it. My father, in the last years of his life, turned his attention to giving something back to the village after so many years of happiness there, and he did it by taking responsibility for cleaning the beach. Throughout the 90s dad would spend hours cleaning the beach, with the surprise reward of Aberdaron being recognised with its "Clean Beach" award for a number of years. The beach itself has always had a charismatic effect for me, and the feeling of calmness is something very special. Long may this continue for other generations.
