If the south of the island is onshore, then check out this little bay. Due to the rocky shoreline it's better left to intermediates and above, rather than learners.
It can hold up nicely and has been known to produce the odd barrel when the tide is low.

is it possible to drive anywhere near the bay? or have the caravan sites ruined the fun for anyone... i don't fancy carrying my board all the way along the coastal path!

Really nice beach, found it by accident almost, whilst sea kayaking around the coast. Surf there was awesome, so went back there later with my board and had an awesome session, 3-4ft clean, with long waves too. I lived in Cornwall last year, in Bude, so can't really compete with that, but great for developing surfers, wouldn't reccomend for beginners if it's working hard.

I had really nice session down there last month, a good variety of lefts and rights to choose from. We were a bit concerned about the fin that we kept seeing, there have been shark spottings there so always carry a spear!
