James Morgan from the North Wales Basketball Association gives us a rough guide to basketball:
"There are five players on the court at any one time, though there can be twelve in a team. The game includes four quarters lasting ten minutes each.
If you'd like to play, just call your local sports centre and find out if basketball sessions are run there, or you could go to the basketball association's website at www.northwalesbasketball.com which let's you know when all games are being played.
It's a great game to get involved in and it's catching on big in Europe now. The UK's closest national league team to NW Wales is in Wrexham and they regularly play teams from all over."
Alan Banastar from Anglesey tells us about the vibrant basketball scene on the island:
"I help run the Anglesey Basketball Association and we've got lots of teams on the island, including the Holyhead Celts, Llangefni Warriors, Amlwch Wild Cats and the Menai Bridge Wizards, all under 18s teams. Holyhead and Amlwch also have under 12s teams, as well as the Bodorgan Cobras and the Llangoch Dragons.
There's also Môn Magic, which consists of under 16s boys and girls teams who play against other teams in North Wales and England. Our girls teams are Welsh champions, and we've got 12 players in all who play for Wales in various age groups.
I've helped set up a club over in Kinmel Bay and I'm working with Ysgol Friars and people from Maesgeirchen to set up a team in Bangor. This is important because there aren't any junior teams between Anglesey and Rhyl.
We couldn't have done any of this without the help of volunteers who help out with officiating at the games, getting the kit organised and travelling to events. If anyone's interested in helping, just let me know (01248 752032).
Senior players in the area go on to play for Bangor University, as you don't have to be a student there to play for the team or take part in training."

Training session in Bethesda leisure centre (about 10 mins from Bangor). Tuesdays from 7 till 9. Have played 4 games and a one day tournament in the past 2 months if anyone with a prior experience of the game wants to turn up! It's good fun!

We have just set up a club in Bethesda leisure centre [Plas Ffrancon], training is every Tuesday night from 8 till 9-ish. We would love to organise a game against some team just for the love of the game. Not too serious as it would be our first game together. If you're interested get in touch through the leisure centre please.

There is a team started up again in Colwyn Bay, now playing in a league. We train on Tuesday nights in Ysgol Creuddyn at 7pm, with our previous coach Mr Burton back. We have a lot of numbers on some nights, maybe we could get another team together and another night of training.
