Robert, Porthmadog
I was born in Porthmadog and grew up there. While my parents lived I came home often. No matter where you went, Welsh was the main language in shops & pubs. When I recently went home (after two years away) I found a completely different Port'. Everywhere you went people with English & Polish accents serving in shops - none able (or willing) to speak Welsh. I was told to speak English or not be served. Why have we allowed these invaders to dictate that we only speak English in shops & pubs? In my own country I have a god-given right to speak my own language. I am proud of my Welsh language and heritage. Being told to speak English in my own country was a betrayal of everything the Welsh have fought so hard to preserve.
