I come from Porthmadog, and on Moel y Gest there is an ancient fortification. I have tried to find information on it for the past four years but have found very little. Could anyone help? The site has never been excavated, but I believe it should be.

I found out that Pensyflog farm was built on an island and a cottage stood where the barn was before the cob was built!

Is Porthmadoc was named for Prince Madoc, and was his father ever portrayed in a sketch or painting?

There is still a toll road in Harlech (past the Grapes). You no longer pay on the Cob as i believe it has been sold to the council hence the road has been widened - thank goodness

Jason Humphreys from Porthmadog
Tolls are no longer collected because the Cob was bought from the Rebecca Trust by the Welsh Assembly some 4 years ago.

How come there's no toll to pay crossing the Cob any more? Not that I'm complaining? Are there still other toll roads in the area?
