A day's fishing

Nantlle Lake Simon Jones from BBC Radio Wales's On The Fly show, July 7 2006, goes fishing with Seiont, Gwyrfai and Llyfni Fishing Society members John Roberts and Harry Wyn Owen on Nantlle Lake.

Clip 1 John, Harry and Simon set off for a day's fishing on the lake. With Snowdon in full view in front of them and the 'elephant mountain' to the left, Simon discovers which is the perfect fly to use on the lake.

Clip 2 Is Simon's catch count getting any higher? With their backs to the famous Dorothea quarry, Harry recalls his family's connections with the old slate quarry.

Clip 3 After a brief interruption by a helicopter, the fish get more lively before the cooling weather puts them off coming up to bite and Simon, Harry and John call it a day.

Clip 4 Ernie Jakes takes Simon through the processes of the Nantlle hatchery. From eggs to baby brown trout, it takes three or four years before they're ready to run the gauntlet of the Nantlle Lake fishermen.
