Richard's story
Last updated: 23 November 2007
GISDA is a Gwynedd-based charity supporting young people to enable them to live independently. Here Richard from Caernarfon tells the story of how he came to need their help.
Richard found himself needing somewhere to live after problems at home.
GISDA has provided him with a room of his own, as well as support in seeking a job, and he now feels more able to dream of a brighter future.
Armed with one of our digital cameras, Richard took photos of some of the most important things in his life and came onboard the BBC bus to tell us why they mean so much to him.

I was really moved by Richard's story. What a nice young man he sounds. How good that he is being halped to gain independence by GISDA. I hope that one day his mum will be able to embrace him again. Sometimes living with mum when you are a young adult is hard all round, and once you live independently, then a good friendship can be reestablished. It's the day-to-day rubbing along that can get on eachother's nerves. All the best to Richard and his mum.
