Junebug

Last updated: 27 November 2005

Junebug

  • Artist / Band: Junebug
  • From: Abergele.
  • Style / Influences: Indie/Rock - The Ramones, The Beatles, The Beach Boys etc.
  • Who's in the band? Ralph Latham (Guitar, Lead Vox), Guy Latham (Bass, Keyboards, Backing Vox) and Warren Gilbert (Drums, Percussion).
  • Been going since: October 2003.
  • Where they play: Anywhere and everywhere.
  • Songs they cover: None.
  • Recordings available: Two albums called First and Second available from our website and at gigs. Currently recording third album.
  • Best moment so far: Recording with Tim Wheeler from Ash.
  • Future plans: Keep gigging, making albums and selling them.
  • Favourite other local bands: Gintis, Jives Room, Valleum, Camera, Carpet.
  • Any bad gigging moments so far? Our bassist put Vicks Vapour Rub in his hair once to make it stick up. When he got under the stage lights it started running and went all down his face. Hilarious results ensued.
  • What's in the name? The Junebeetle, or, as it is more commonly known, the Junebug, is a bug that comes out only in June and is also an insect that has a very different after-mating activity. After the male and female mate the female then burrows its way into the ground where it then lays its eggs. The eggs then develop and come out again in June.
  • Fantasy gig venue? The Great Gig in The Sky.
  • Who'd you like to see down the front? Joey Ramone, John Lennon and Freddie Mercury.
  • New law your band would introduce? We wouldn't introduce any new laws but we think that drunk and incapable law is pretty funny. Especially when Euan Blair got arrested.
  • Anything else we should know? Other than that when I dress up in drag I make Emily Howard look like Keira Knightley?
