A Great Orme Goat From rampaging goats to golf courses on the Orme and extending the North Wales Theatre - is there anything else Llandudno-related that's bugging you today?

Visiting my mum on Conway Road, I realise just how noisy it has become - every five minutes a wailing police or ambulance siren (even when there is no traffic) from 6.30am until 11.30pm. Isn't there a cut off time for horns and sirens? Interestingly the fire engines only use their horns when approaching the road junctions (thanks from mum).

Would the councillors and council officials who agreed to the development of Parc Llandudno please stand up and be counted(if you dare)! What on earth were you all thinking? I would like to invite you back to the scene of the crime and see what mayhem you have caused to the local people who have the misfortune of living on Conwy Road and surrounding areas. May I suggest you all congregate at The Links Hotel roundabout any Saturday between 10am and 5pm to witness the continued noise and pollution being emitted from the gridlock of traffic all vying for that extra inch getting them that little closer to their destination. Hooting horns are obligatory, sirens blare as the emergency services try to get past these ignorant and selfish morons who seem to think it is standard practice to block every exit off the roundabout and blast their horns at anyone who should dare try and edge through. Local people told you time and again that it would create mayhem with all the extra traffic lights installed and the sheer increase in volume of traffic. It was suggested to plan the exit route of the Parc onto the broadway taking the traffic out of Llandudno along this route, but all to no avail. The one road in and out of the park creates a backlog of traffic on the parc which means that no-one can get in or out. Utter chaos! And now there is a charge for parking over two hours. I was of the belief that when Asda was originally given consent to change the whole layout of the roads and build on this land, it was on the proviso that the car park was to be free of charge.

The name of Daredevil Curly brought back those 1950s boyhood memories of when the Funfair came to town, and yes I too remember this great man, because that's what he was to us lads, someone that would climb a ladder as high as our Church Tower and jump into a tank of water culminating in the "jump of fire".Checking back through old photos I came across one that showed the name of "Daredevil" the Curly obscured by the Carnival Queen float, but his ladder climbing skywards is there for all to see.Sunday July 5th 2009

Indeed, Mike Whittingham, Daredevil Curly sure was an amazing fellow. Crikey! At times it seemed to me that he was diving into less water than I add to my blooming whiskey!

Great to hear the recollections of Daredevil Curly. I remember watching him at New Brighton, probably around 1964, amazing, diving into a small pool of water which was alight.

Walked past the old pavilion site in Llandudno yesterday - still looks a complete mess!! Still no sign of a luxury hotel!

Llandudno still has a lot going for it despite the best efforts of the council to hand control of development to Walmart(road system of "all roads lead to ASDA").The council should take a leaf out of Birmingham's re-development where the guy in charge rightly concluded that the big retailers wanted to be there and therefore had to work with the council,NOT dictate terms.

I've returned to llandudno after attending a wedding in essex and was concerned about the state of the litter here in town at times around the evening and early morning, it's always in the same areas and I find it really irritating that people throw their rubbish on the floor with no thought of the beauty of this once picturesque, Victorian, seaside town. I would appreciate the people who go around the town more if they didn't go around throwing their food wrappers on the floor when they could easily hold onto it and put it in a bin as there are always plenty around. On a plus note the weather%! 20is fine and the coast is looking as beautiful as ever. roll on the Summer! Barrie C.

Dare Devil Curly was my father - he dived 65 feet into a six foot tank of flames. His last dive was in New Brighton at Whitsun in 1964. He was totally blind following removal of a cerebrol tumour believed to have reoccurred due to the constant impact of the dives.

During his final dive he incurred a fractured scapula and humerus but also hit his head. He died less than 6 months later and on draining the tank months later we found old bicycle frames, planks and bricks in the base. Thought to have been thrown in by vandals. Thank you to the reader from Llandudno for remembering him!

If the story is accurate and planning permission has been granted for a new hotel on that eyesore the former pavilion site then it's not before time. Surely a compulsory purchase order could have been obtained to force the owner of the site to sell it at its market value or could not the council be bothered in ensuring one of Llandudnos main development areas remains derelict.

With over ten shops left vacant and most on Mostyn St what has become of our once gorgeous town. It's still a place that attracts many tourists and a better effort must be made by all to ensure it doe! snot become too run down.

I believe Parc Llandudno was a waste of time. We had plenty of shops and I preferred Asda where it was. The council has made a massive mistake.

We have a couple of photocopies from a local paper The Llandudno Circular. The first dated 13/08/1955 has a piece about him coming to the council field on August 15th. "See his death defying dive from 80ft into five feet of water and see his sensational fire dive at evening performance." In the following week's Circular there is a picture of him mid dive. No fire.

Does anybody remember Daredevil Curly? He used to come to The Council field most Summers and, after climbing a ladder to what seemed an enormous height, dive into a tank of water that had been set alight. As young lads,we all thought this was fantastic.I hear tell that he met his death by doing the same stunt. The other much anticipated Summer event was the Fair. We used to like to lean on the rails of the Waltzer listening to Connie Francis songs. Happy Days!
