I wonder if Geoff Ellis remembers playing cricket for his school against mine, St David's and being run out for a lowly score. We knew he would be a good cricketer and were delighted to get him out so cheaply.

Let's not forget Tommy Rose who lived at number 6 St Tudno street in our town. He was a thespian who played the theatres throughout the UK for many years. He helped many others to achieve their goals, including Lord Mountbattern, and kept me and others in stiches in our local pub for many years before his death at 87 years of age. A wonderful man, a pleasure to have met him."To see you, to see you nice." (Tommy wrote that Bruce.)

Margaret Lacey appeared in many of the late John Schlesinger's films; it has been said he regarded her a luck presence. Her first with him was "Terminus" a 1961 documentary-type short about Waterloo station. Margaret played a passenger who lost her luggage. Her most prominent role was as the teacher in the opening sequence of the Bond film "Diamonds are Forever".

Madame Bennett (Billy Bennett) sadly died in about 2004, after spending his final days in a nursing home in Colwyn Bay.

Everybody in late 70s/80s knew Madam Bennett, last spotted on the prom in Rhyl about 10yrs ago - still the same; Ed Linden mentioned the Captain - I remember him too and I remember Ed also - I was in the same class as you in school. Happy days!

Wasn't Margaret Lacey also famous for getting in and out of a high back chair on a TV ad? I remember that her daughter helped her choose it apparently after visiting Shackleton's showroom.

Just been reading through all the old celeb goss on this site and remembered old Mr Southall (Nev`s grandad I think) riding his bike along the royal jubilee route just before the queen arrived. He got rousing cheers and flag waving from thousands. I also recalled a few "close encounters" with Joey Jones (and once with Frankie). I was a friendly girl in those days!
When the Jess Yates scandal blew up Paula was staying with Don and Freda Ball (Ball & Boyds auctioneers). As I was best mates with their daughter Denise I went to their house daily. As I arrived one day I was ambushed by a pack of paparazzi who lay in wait up next door's tree. Quite frightening for a young kid.
Does anyone remember 2 concerts at John Bright's starring John Luce and Neil Lewis who were Max Boyce`s backing singers. Turns out me, Neil and Tammy Jones (1 hit wonder with Let me try again) are related.
And finally. Anne Zeigler heard me singing on my paper round and encouraged me to continue. I eventually made a living singing on the club circuit and now my 15 yr old daughter Jazz Johnson has gone semi professional with a promising career ahead.

Geoff Ellis, who made over 100 apperances for Glamorgan Cricket originally started his career in Llandudno as a junior. This year, 2006, he made a return to the ground where he first played, for his new club Mumbles CC. As a junior it was great to see a man of his experience and caliber play at the oval and was extatic when i bowled him out, off stump out of the ground, on the way to winning the Welsh Cup championship with Llandudno CC.
