We went to Portmeirion to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary. It was our first time in the UK. We stayed at Upper Trinity, which we found to be cosy and very romantic. We even had a white dove look in the window and watch us eat breakfast.

The passing of Patrick McGoohan reminds my sister and I poignantly of our visit to The Village in the early 1970s, when Rover's imprints were still on the Lawns. We were pleased to see a No 6 Button hanging in the entrance booth, a lovely, subtle touch. It was lovely to run the beach in the manner of The Prisoner series. The world is indebted to P.M. for allowing its filming in so lovely a place.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon there. It was the first time I had visited 'the village', my wife having been several times before. We returned again six months later and plan to return once again in the summer. Absolutely stunning place.
