Lynne has been working with Oriel Môn, Llangefni, to highlight the heritage of mat-making on Anglesey, including using marram grass to create rugs in Newborough.
She brought her traditional techniques to the primary school children of Newborough and Dwyran to help create mats, rugs and wall-hangings by making the most of recycled materials.
She and the children used heart motifs to depict the theme of Saint Dwynwen, Wales' patron saint for lovers and friendship who has strong links with the area.
Lynne has also worked with a youth group from the Tanlan Craft Centre, Bodorgan, making creative use of the flotsam and jetsam which washes up on the area's beaches.
A display of Lynne and the children's work will be travelling round the libraries of Anglesey this summer. For more details, contact Oriel Môn on 01248 724444.

I live in Chester but have been creating my own recycled art from the sea on your beach for the past five years - maybe some of you have seen it. I get so many comments about it and it is one of the loves of my life, despite the fact that one day I will come down and it will be all gone back to the wind and the sea. Newborough is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I hope that the local people feel the same.

I have been an avid hooker for many years and have now combined it with my textile and working on anything I can find in fabric and found items of jewellery, beads, buckles and buttons. Its great to see so many now taking up this mantle, well done Lynne.

Cesar Manrique is an artist as famous as Picasso in the Canary Islands and he used recycled materials in the making of his extraordinary mobiles on some of the island's roundabouts (old water containers etc). I loved Lynne Stein's artworks, where can I see them when I visit Newborough at the end of October?

I just happened upon this site. The art that the students and their talented teacher create is just wonderful. I especially like the ideas of the young woman who uses book pages and bits of jewelery!
There is such a warmth to the creations. It probably comes from the caring of the teacher and the students, and also from the materials themselves.
I do this kind of recycled bits-and-pieces creation myself, and it always has so much more depth and spirit than when using brand-new materials.

I've just tried to made something like a wall magazine for a competition. We used recycled paper, eggshells, everything that everybody says is only trash - but the great thing is, it's so cheap and attractive!

I create from all recycled materials, especially paperback books. My art is miniature, i.e ATC size upwards, but because I use a lot of embellishments (recycled jewellery etc). I have to place them in a box, this is where the paperback comes in. Most of my miniature sculpture includes paperback book pages.
