I am told the St Davids is to reopen as a plush hotel with adjoining apartments. It should, because it must have one of the best views in the world.

Do they still hold the Harlech Sevens in August? If so what are the dates for this year?

I am producing a research document on the St David's Hotel in Harlech. It would be great to have any information on the history of the building and any interesting guests. It would also be good to find out when it was built, who commissioned such a grand building in this position.

Diana. A linked web site says that the St Davids Hotel is soon to be demolished. In response to your earlier question. I too camped for several years in the late 1960's at the Methodist Youth Camp. The cafe you mentioned we visited most days and we called 'Greasy Annies'. Yes, and the Juke Box that always seemed to play the Beatles and the Kinks records. Do you remember the row of 'Snowden View' latrines. Many times I had the mid night job of throwing Lime down them.
We had some wonderful holidays. The camp site is now a housing estate on the Morfa flats. Reverend Norman Valley from Mundesley,! where are you now. Are you still with us ? Any news from out there. Remembering Tony Cardus rest in peace.

My family is the Richards Poole family who used to own numerous properties and areas around this area, including Cae Nest Hall (Ref Dave Briggs). My parents live in Harlech and my aunts and uncles all still live in Llanbedr, as the Richards now, my dad is the last member of the family to have Poole in our surname. Therefore the Pooles still exists and I am sure any member of my family would be more than helpful in assisting with the history of Caenest.

Is the St David's Hotel closed? It looks like it from the back, on the road. I don't think the station is adopted any longer...it looks realy tatty and closed up buildings.

Please could you tell me why they have not got rid of those cars that left across the road from the bed and breakfast place opposite in old Parry`s Garage? It does not go down well in the main High Street in Harlech.

I am preparing a new railway book about Wales, primarily concerning the open stations at the point of privatisation. I photographed Harlech station in April 1994 and made a note that it had been 'adopted' by a local school and pupils improved the appearance with tubes of flowers etc. I would like to know whether this continues please? It is simply for the accuracy of the caption to the photo. Thank you very much.

I have recently moved to Harlech and I am very interested in its history. I have seen mentions on this of "The book of Harlech" and would love to get hold of a copy, but I have been unable to track one down. If anyone could let me know where I could find this book, I should be really grateful.

I visited St David's Hotel yesterday and found it all shut up. Is it to re-open, has it new owners? It's such a shame a grand building like this stands empty.
