Clearing the way for a new job
Last updated: 15 January 2008
Gardening skills are not just for leisure time. A group of young people have worked clearing the overgrown grounds of a hostel in Deiniolen in a project designed to prepare them for employment.
The 12-week Prince's Trust community programme gives participants a chance to gain eight qualifications and learn useful workplace skills.
The group of students had to plan the whole Deiniolen project from start to finish and try to get equipment and services donated.
In this video you can hear Sioned Roberts, assistant team leader, and Paul Williams, a member of the group, describe the work they did, which should improve life for residents at Noddfa, a hostel for the homeless.

The Prince's Trust helps young people who may be unemployed, underachieving in education or leaving care, to build skills, confidence and find employment through personal development opportunities.
