Keiran Jones raced onto a defensive clearance to stab the ball past Shaun Pearson, with the visitors defence in total disarray. Jones had a hand in the third goal also but after his flick shot was parried, Mike Griffiths made no mistake from close range with the rebound. Llandudno did shape up better after the break with Jason Sadler (pictured) and Jody Hamilton setting up a grandstand finish but chasing the equaliser, Jones added a fourth goal for LEX.
Flint Town United are eventually off the mark in a close encounter at Buckley. They had to play most of the match with 10 men after John Hill was dismissed for the use of foul and abusive language. But soon after, Ian Parry turned in a Paul Davies corner. Sean Beck doubled their tally late in the second half so a 90th minute reply from Alan Dawson was merely a consolation. They soaked up plenty of Buckley pressure after some good work by Jack Abraham.
Mynydd Isa had an emphatic 4-1 victory at Penrhyncoch and all of the goals were scored in the opening half. Barry Calder and Phil Coffin had Isa bossing the game but Tony Jones reduced the arrears in the 18th minute. Joe Desormeux and Anthony Williams with a bullet header put the game beyond reach.
It is not very often good clubs squander a 3-0 lead but with 82 minutes gone on the clock, Gresford looked down and out at Llangefni who took the lead with the last action of the first half through Adrian Jones. Kevin Roberts and Kevin Lloyd looked as if they had got the points firmly in the bag. Gresford had not read such script however and pulled a goal back through Kev Hope. Sub Neil Jones set up a tense finish with a well drilled shot from 25 yards and their comeback was complete to salvage a 3-3 draw when Danny Hughes equalised with a near post header from a Sean Williams corner.
Ruthin Town are the new league leaders following their 2-0 win over Llandyrnog. They earned the bragging rights for a few months at least to go top of the Cymru Alliance at this early stage of the season. Ruthin took the lead, following some good work by Kevin Breeze way out on the right; his cross was met by Eilir Edwards who netted from 12 yards out. Simon Hulse's pace was creating problems and it was he who made the game safe for Ruthin when he latched on to a through ball and scored with 15 minutes remaining.
Bala Town dropped two points in a thrilling 2-2 draw with Holyhead Hotspur who bossed all of the early play. In atrocious conditions Spurs wasted several good chances but managed to break the deadlock in the 35th minute when Mark Evans scored following a goalmouth scramble. Gary Penlington with the first action of the second half hit back but the hosts restored their lead from the penalty spot after Kenleigh Owen was pulled down and Evans netted the resulting penalty. Osian Jones did manage to rescue a point but Bala boss Colin Caton will be more concerned about the bad injury to one of his key players Neil Fisher, who was stretchered off with a suspected broken leg.
Mold Alex picked up their first success since returning to the Cymru Alliance and it was a credible 4-3 win at Llanfair PG who let slip the lead on three separate occasions. Mold clawed their way back into the game with efforts from Mike Roberts and Darren Pritchard(2) and then their mission was complete after Ian Burgess netted a last gasp own goal.
Chasing the game at the break and trailing 2-0 against Guilsfield, the signs did not look good for Glantraeth. Wayne Austin broke the deadlock after just 3 minutes and they doubled their tally on the half hour mark when Emyr Roberts tapped the bakk into an empty net. This wasn't vintage Glantraeth and although they had a gift wrapped chance to get back into the game when Dave Littleford brought down Corey Sinnott, Gerallt Jones squandered the resulting penalty which was saved by Mike Barton who replaced Littleford, previously was dismissed. Kevin Roberts did, however, get on target and he grabbed a last gasp consolation goal. Report by Phil Jones
