Llanffest

Rhian Mostyn and her band at Sesiwn Fawr Dolgellau

Last updated: 04 August 2008

Rhian Mostyn explains the plans for Llanffest and why she's happy to welcome the community to hear live music on her Llanfairfechan farm.

We've always had private parties at our farmhouse, but last year we decided to invite the public so we could raise money for the national sheepdog trials which were held in Abergele.

Even though we're a bit tired this year after all the farm work, we're going to hold Llanffest again on Saturday, 30 August, and this time the proceeds will go to Hope House Children's Hospice, Llanfairfechan Football Club and Llanfairfechan Carnival.

It's the community who support us and the community who benefit from the money we raise.

The farm is called Tyn Llwyfan. Llwyfan means stage - I've no idea where the name came from, but it's very apt. We clean out the barn and set everything up there.

It's only £5 for a ticket and camping is free. In 2008 we're going to have Bryn Fôn and his band, Something Personal, Get Out Clause, Emyr Gibson and me, Rhian Mostyn.

I'm in a band with four others. We're sort of rock/pop and write our own songs. We do lots of gigs in the local area, but it's great performing at home.

It's a family event and children are welcome. We're hoping to have some local rugby and football players come along to lead a few sporting activities to give everyone a chance to get involved.
