Gwenda tells BBC presenter Matthew Richards how she was taken down winding lanes to Tal-y-Llyn Church, hidden away in fields between Gwalchmai and Rhosneigr.
There, she met Trevor Salmon, one of the members of Friends of Friendless Churches. He has helped restore the building to its former glory.
After re-pointing the stonework to make the walls watertight, lime-washing the inside and repairing the 1674 altar rail, they were able to open the chapel of ease for services a few times a year.
"We tend to use candles as much as possible. Obviously there's no electricity or lighting and they fit in with the atmosphere of how it would have been centuries ago," he says.
"Sometimes we have marriage blessings here and lavender is placed on the floor. The beautiful scent as you come in through the door is something very special which adds to the atmosphere."
He also hopes more people will come to the services to enjoy the singing. "The acoustics are really special. Even with a small congregation the singing resounds around the building and gives you some indication of what it would have been like in the olden days."
