I spent many school holidays in Criccieth, staying with my Aunt and Uncle on their farm that overlooked the town. Loved visiting the Castle and shopping in the High Street,Such Happy Memories.

I fully agree with others who say the view coming over the hill from Porthmadog overlooking the bay and castle is without parallel, especially early on a summer's morning! Have been on holiday there many years running but been unable to go back recentl because of husband's disability. But I WILL make it back there some day and hope to find it as beautiful and unchanged as ever.

we loved it, dragged the bairns up to the castle then down the hill for ice cream and chips on a bench! Kids drinking AND taking drugs in bus shelters, who would have thought it?

I've lived in Criccieth since I was born, I'm now in my teens. I love the town, it's fab, but I have to say I agree about the young teens that are doing drugs and drink. They are a pain in the backside.

My Grandad Daniel Owen was born in Criccieth in 1886 in the shop next to the Prince of Wales wich I believe is a newsagents now. His dad and Grandad were watchmakers and ran their business from that shop, after researching my family tree and being sent some great pictures from people in the area of the old and new Criccieth I visited the town with my family and found it as nice as everyone said it would be, I have been back a few times since and I am still hopeing to find a clock made by my grt grt grandfather also called Daniel Owen. (Ever the optamist)

Re:"W from Criccieth" comments 20-6-06 regarding drugs etc. Not enough locals are prepared to ring the Police and tell them the numbers of cars that are regularly stopping on the Maes for quick sales, usually near the bus stop. You know the kids buying? Tell on them! Hard, I know, but you could save them from addiction or possibly an early death. The problem is not that serious in this town, but the North Wales Coast is a minefield. Save a Life!

iN 2005 we spent 2 weeks in Pentrefelin. i used to jog into Criccieth and then back every morning at 8am - pure magic. My kids would swim at high tide of an evening.

Folks bought a derelict house there a few years back and have gradually done it up. I never tire of the place and my kids think it's brilliant - pier jumping at high tide, rock pools at low, mackerel in summer and their highlight is always a big bowl of local mussels at Granvilles restaurant on the main street - never been lat down by that restaurant.

What a wonderful place - stayed in Criccieth for the first time last weekend, in a local hotel. Enjoyed an excellent meal in George's Bistro on the main street (local fish dish - can't remember what it was called, but it was awesome!) then wandered down to the beach and saw some dolphins. Magical!

My beautiful Criccieth, brought up here, went to school here, and now bringing up my kids here. Shame about all the drugs and underage drinkers hiding in the shelters down by the beach. Come on people, stop serving people who buy for kids. And get the drugs off the streets. Stop ruining my town.

I have travelled round the globe. Yet the sight of Criccieth, arriving by car from Porthmadog, is as inspirational now as it was when I first visited to see my aunt in 1962. One of the wonders of Britain. Yes, truly magnificent - crowned in my opinion by a visit to Cadwaladers for a lovely local ice cream, yet to be surpassed.

There is nothing better than being in Criccieth on a lovely spring or summer morning, eating a wonderful breakfast at the Blue China overlooking the Bay with the castle in the background. Heaven on Earth!

Over the years I must have been to Criccieth a dozen times or more. Every time there's something new in the spectacular scenery. There's little to beat sunset from the Castle hill or the beach - never mind Spain or whatever, it's all on our doorstep!
