Peter Corris
I was wondering how would I find about more about the history of Corris and principally the origins of the name?
Web team: For starters, try the BBC Wales What's in a Name website. Any other suggestions welcome.

Ray Corriss from Riverhead
Family name was Corris. My great grandmother added an extra s. Ancestors came over to the U.S. first half of 19th century. Fought in Civil War on Union Side. I'll check out this site from time to time to see if anyone can tell me anything about my ancestors.

Isn't that a touch racist Ioan? Try to find your common ground instead of your differences.

I Hughes, Rhuthun
Would anybody know anything about Dewi Glan Dulas, a poet who lived here during the 1870s? He emigrated to Vermont and died there (1895) but not before becoming very influential with the slate quarrying community of the Slate Valley in social and bardic circles. His real name was David Owen Morris who was born in Beddgelert. He married a girl who worked at an inn in Dinas Mawddwy.

I have moved to Corris with a young family and love everything about the place. The school and community is very friendly and people have given us such warm welcome. The countryside is spectacular , the village itselfs sits in a beautiful valley and is very picturesque, perfect for bringing up families. We have enjoyed many long walks and cycle rides, there are many rivers , waterfalls and the views never looks the same twice, the weather has been far far better than I expected. Peaceful, awe inspiring scenery and friendly.

Katie Edwards from Old Colwyn
My mother's family lived in Corris, so I have visited Corris many times and I think it is a beautiful place, with nice scenery. But I think the Welsh inhabitants are slowly disappearing.

No community left. Been living here all my life and it's sad to see that the welsh are in the minority and that the english cause unrest in the village. As a consequence, all the characters are moving and the welsh language slowly vanishing.

John Howe from Golden Bay, New Zealand
My wife and I lived in Nancy lloyd's cottage, opposite the Slater's Arms, in 1973 for a few months. Returned for a visit in 2004 to find Nancy alive and well, and several other local identities. Still as beautiful as I remembered it, although the pub seemed a bit more open to outsiders! All so different from life here in NZ!
