"One night in December, I was walking home. The walk is only about 10 minutes from my house, and I've done it hundreds of times, so I wasn't afraid.
Conwy Castle came in to view, and as I walked past it and part of the way over the bridge that spans the River Conwy, I had a sensation that I was been watched.
I looked around and saw nothing so I carried on walking, a little unnerved. As I walked a few more steps, I began to feel very spooked out as the feeling of being watched was becoming stronger.
This time I looked up at the castle. In one of the towers I could see the silhouette of a large man wearing some sort of armoury and a helmet. He was surrounded by a dim yellow light, like candlelight.
At this point it began to dawn on me what I was looking at, and I could feel my heart beating in my ears. The figure didn't move, but I felt like he was looking right at me. I turned and ran all the way home in fear!
Eerie or what?!"

My wife, friends, sister and I visited Conwy castle in May 09. Although they had no strange experiences, I (after entering the upstairs floored chapel) breathed in a very strong smell of incense. I was certain that it was lit (by the organisers) to give the room a sense of authenticity. However, after searching the room for the source of the smell, I could find nothing, even in the king's cubicle at the top. My friend's girlfriend could smell nothing, yet I swear on my life that the smell of incense was in that room. Anybody else experience it?

I went on a ghost walk in Conwy many years ago. I was told of a young couple who became engaged. The man went off to sea (war) and each night his fiance climbed one of the towers to watch for her returning love. Time passed, he never returned, news came of his death, she was devastated. She climbed the tower, threw her ring over the wall and then jumped to her death. Apparently a ring was unearthed there by a local person. Many tourists who have been photographed there have found mystery guests who have appeared on their pictures, a man in battle clothing or a woman in period clothing looking out over the castle walls. Tourists have also claimed to have seen a couple or single woman in period style clothing whilst gazing up at the castle.

I just came back from a trip through Wales. My last stay was at the Castle Hotel in Conwy. They say it's a haunted place; especially the Wynn Suite, where there was a ghost of a girl that people had to exorcise severall times (is told if I have to trust Richard Felix from Most Haunted) but kept coming back. Also there would be the ghost of a monk and other mysterious 'spectres' and poltergeists.
With that news I went to my bed and couldn't sleep the whole night! I completely turned paranoid and freaked. I can't say if I really experienced ghostly activities because of my terrible fears. I thought I heard a moan of a young woman in the corner of the room once and several times from the same corner I heard a knock and the floor squeaking.
Halfway through the night also I suddenly felt a terrible sadness I thought came very out of nowear and I started crying. But who says it wasn't just the fear? hey had strange experiences and what kind of.

I took a picture from one of the walls at the top of the castle, and when I looked at it later on my camera, I saw what looks like a woman in a dress looking out of one of the windows, she wasn't there before.

I have been to Conwy on a school trip for a week recently and we stayed in a hotel called Beechwood Court half way up the mountain. Before we got there we knew there were rumours flitting round of some of the rooms being haunted. My group were to stay in one of the mentioned rooms. We are a bubbly bunch which kept the room alive and light well into the night, sometimes the morning. But, as soon as we did start settling down the room went cold. Things fell off cabinets and the wardrobe doors always opened. The curtain blew forward when the window was closed. I don't know about the others but I was pretty freaked. I had trouble sleeping, one night I didn't close my eyes once. I just lay stiff, wondering if my friends were asleep. There was certainly no clues to them being just as wide awake as me.
But, that night my friends in the bed next to me fell off her bed with hardly a sound. Funny thing was, she'd been right at the opposite side of the bed then.. next minute, she's on the floor next to me. She didn't wake up until the rest of us did though. We all laughed, including me. I didn't want to say anything. Some people had warned us not to touch the bible but as soon as we got in, we'd treated it as a joke and stroked it all at once. Maybe this was the cause? or the ghosts are just there anyway. It was a lovely hotel but if I went again I wouldn't stay ! in Leighton.

I was brought up inside the Conwy walls and I've always felt uneasy in the town, especially during the winter nights. My street is called Berry Street which derived from the name Burial Street. It was known as this because it is built on a pit where victims of the plague where interred. About 10 years ago, they found bodies while doing pavement work. Things have always gone bump in the night in my house. Nothing major but always enough to scare you to death when you add it to the freezing temperature I was accustomed to in our house, and it's history (it had been a 17th century tavern and later inhabited ! by Gladys, who was known throughout the area for being the only woman collecting mussels at that time. For years, there was an exhibition involving a waxwork of her at Aberconwy House). The book "the Ghosts of Conwy" by Margaret Williams who is an old friend of my family's tells of various known sightings of ghosts in the town throughout the past century and their possible origins.
At least two of the sightings I remember happening because they were well discussed in the town and the playground of my school and claimed by upstanding members of the community. Anyway. It’s not a ghost story but I just wanted to share that because I was back there for the weekend and visited the castle.

My family went to Conwy Castle. I see the occasional ghost at home usually, but I didn't see any at Conwy Castle. But as I downloaded my photos there was one of my 4 year old son and behind him is this huge black shadow of a man and that was not visible to the eye when we where there. It's very spooky.

I was walking in Conwy Castle and I looked in the mirror and saw a black silhouette watching me so I ran out of the castle.

I've only visited the castle once. i was on holiday with my grandmother and mother. walking along the courtyard i saw a large figure walking towards us, the castle was quite busy so when i tried to point it out to my family they couldnt pinpoint him. it looked as if he was walking straight towards us as if he knew us. i dont know what made me look at him but something about him caught my eye. as we left the castle i fainted in a shop that we went to, this was quite unusual as i never faint, but when i came to my mam and gran told me that i was talking in tongues while i was coming round. has this ever happened to anyone else after an eerie experience?

when i was 8 i used to live in a house not too far from conwy, every night when i used to go to bed i cud hear someone walking up the stairs, so id turn around to look into the hallway where i cud see a dark figure walking towards my room, he was wearin a long black cloak with wat looked like an extra large black cowboy hat so id go under my qwilt cover and shout for my mam, as soon as i looked again it was gone. this continued nite after nite for about 3 months then durin the day i was at the top of the stairs when all of a sudden a felt a cold breeze go past me, then i got push down the stairs. which ended up me having to go to hospital, a few days after i got back we decided to put the house up for sale and move.

In 2001, age 22, I visited the castle on the spur of the moment one rainy February afternoon. It was half an hour to closing time, I only just gained admission and I was the only one in the castle. Walking through the grassy courtyard in the centre I felt a man was walking parallel along the righthand battlements (facing Deganwy), looking down at me. I couldn't see him but I sensed him and felt he was a monk of around 50. I wasn't scared, just spooked and curious. He continued to follow me until I left the courtyard and went out onto the verandah-like part overlooking the bridge. After a few minutes I went back in and felt he was now in the doorway of the tower on my left, on the ground. I felt he wanted me to go into the tower but as it was dark and scary I felt apprehensive and left the castle a few minutes later! Returning to Llandudno, my aunt/godmothers face went white when i told her about the monk. In a nutshell, she told me that he is well known on that side of the family and appears when someone has been ill and his appearance tends to herald that everything is going to be ok. Well, I had been ill and was recuperating in Llandudno at the time! Since that day I have felt strongly that he wants me to come back and visit again. I may well do soon as my boyfriend and I are planning a romantic day out in Conwy, but he is a logical scientist sort and regards my experience as more coincidence than spooky! I can't resist hoping he appears to him when we go now!
