Is there anything you'd change about Colwyn Bay?
Gari: "We could do with more shops here -
extend the Bay View Shopping Centre maybe."
Mathew:
"There isn't that much to do around here - there's a skate park, but that's about it. We don't really go out round here either. There is one place that's open until 2am, but the pubs aren't really for us so we go over to Llandudno. It's a lot better place to go out."
One thing I would like is to have some moose at the Mountain Zoo - they're excellent animals, especially the ones that can swim in the sea!"
Chris:
"I'm into sports so it's OK here - we've got an AstroTurf pitch, swimming pool, tennis courts and athletics track. But on the whole it's a bit quiet really."
Are you going to stay in Colwyn Bay?
Gari:
"I'm doing my A-levels at the moment. I'm doing Welsh because I want to go to college and become a teacher's assistant in a Welsh primary school. I might stay round Colwyn Bay to do that."
Mathew:
"I want to go into the police force. My family's from Leicester so I might leave the area to do that."
Chris:
"I'm in the sixth form at the moment - I stayed on because I like the discipline of school at Eirias High. In college you've got to get on with it yourself, but in the sixth form there's still support and you're made to get on with your work, which is probably what I need!
I want to go to university to do teaching, maybe at Bangor or the Midlands. I'm not sure if I'll stay round here though."

To JK Old Colwyn, Not all Yobs are from Manchester and Liverpool, that is a typical angry teenagers response to a basic question. There are many yobs in Wales although i would not tar all Welsh people with the same brush. There needs to be things for kids to do around North Wales as a whole, if there was more for them to do, it is a%! 20fact that there would be less violence and crimes in general being committed.

Hi Guys. If you really want something interesting to do keep watching this space. For now I would like to know if there are any budding or wannabe DJ and VJs locally from the age of 16. Girls you're welcome too.

Colwyn Bay and Old Colwyn should be demolished and rebuilt its a scum dump, and if there was something for us young people to do it would be ruined by some yobs from liverpool or manchester who think they own the place.

the colwyn bay area has become extremely rough in the last few years, youths that hang around the street drinking cheap alcohol. i am 19 years of age and live near the colwyn bay centre, i have seen many youths being involved in assaults and act drunken and disorderly. things have to change children and young adults who are not prepared to work, study and make society a better place should face consequences, addressing criminal behaviour at a young age would help prevent them doing criminal activities in their later life. there is no fear in the police service any more. boot camps should be in order or place suc! h young adults in the army when they turn 16.

OK - big up the Colwyn Bay massive...aayyy.so..what do the young people of Colwyn Bay want - football competitions? skating exhibitions? more places to meet a nice lady like me Julie? what is needed is a bit of research into what the youth want. the motivation is there. is it the opportunity and insight from community leaders that is missing?

Frances Milton, Colwyn Bay
Colwyn Bay has come so far in the last 10 years. I'm 23 in April and I've lived here my whole life. My brother and I can't believe all the new schemes and facilities available now for young people, but in a way they're still not enough or the right kind.
Employment opportunities are minimal and it's highly unlikely I'll be able to have a true career here.
For this area to survive, I fear those who love the area will have to move away, get the money and experience required and come back to North Wales later on. Extensive outside investment is unlikely; we going to have to do it ourselves!
As for the drug problem, I don't think we hit hard enough on offenders. Colwyn Bay has never been a huge, busy city but we seem to have their problems. I think the council needs to wake up to the real problems in Colwyn Bay and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

I was brought up in Colwyn Bay (im 25), there are not many oppertunities for young peeps. It was like that when i was 13, and it will be like that in 10 years time,
I now reside in liverpool because i cannot get a job with reasonable wage(civil engineer)
About the drugs..... Get real mr joe blogs, the scum have slowly invaded the bay and they are not youngsters..they are 35+....Did you know 5yrs ago they had a poster in walton jail, saying''come and spend your dole in colwyn bay''?
say around 5-8 years ago, the manchester and scouse families starte! d moving to the town, and quite frankly all hell broke loose.

Justice
Joe Bloggs, you are very naive because even though the council are lazy and do not do anything for young people in colwyn bay (because they gain nothing from it, whereas by promoting tourism they gain investment, government funding and business) to say they only promote things for drug addicts is shortsighted and selfish. In Colwyn Bay there is a serious problem of drug addiction and money does need to be spent to improve the lives and prospects of young people in our area and until that is done we will constantly be facing problems of drug addiction. If it wasn't for people with conservative, short-sighted, selfish and NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) attitudes then there would be a lot more being done to help young people in our area with drug addiction, and there would not be the problem of this needle vending machine because without people like you we would have a fully functioning and funded needle exchange unit.
Justice is what Colwyn Bay needs, r u ready to deliver?

THE MIGHTY BOOSH from the bay
I reckon we should have skate demos so we can show off our skillz to everyone who wants to see them, watch out for me, im gonna blow ya socks off, if anyone reckons they can beat me at QPs , i'll rise to the challenge & watch you crumple! Oh yeah, we need a moose in the zoo!

Mr. Moose
What is all this commotion about me swimming in the sea. I only swim in lakes! Silly people! I love Colwyn Bay where I roam the nights freely as the wild moose I am.

I am involved with the local Air Cadets who are based in the TA Centre, Groes Rd, Colwyn Bay, and we meet on a Monday and Thursday between 7.30 and 9.30pm. Any youth between the ages of 13-18 are welcome to come along and see what we do, as to list the activities would take too long. So there are things to do for the youth of Colwyn Bay, also there are the Army cadets who meet on a Wednesday at the same place.

I think we should have more activities to do in the evening for teenagers and adults, and get the troublemakers off the street.

Yes i agree with these young whippersnappers. Eirias park is a lovely place to take my dog Hamish for a walk. HE likes to chase the geese.

I think that mooses are fabulous creatures and their antlers fasinate me in ways i couldnt dream of. I think that mooses should have their own swimming pool to swim in but enough of the nonsense about mooses!

Colwyn Bay is boring and there is nothing for youths to do, the council are lazy and only promote things for old people and drug addicts. Sorry to say it, but this is so so true.

I think that they should get a new skate park because when I was in the skate park I broke my arm because it is steel. If it was wood it would be better. I think that the bus stop youth club is pretty good because of the different things to do.
