I was brought up near Colwyn Bay and it is a disgrace to see how it has deteriorated. It is very run down and the drug and alcohol problems appear to stand out as it is a small place. I now live in Manchester and Colwyn Bay is just like our run down areas. It is very sad as it was a grand place years ago. I am ashamed that I know the place.

Colwyn Bay centre is simply a disgrace. Drunks plague the streets 24/7, teenage mums rule the pavements with prams, drug addicts are rife, buildings are run down and it's basically a dead end place. I think Basra would be a safer night out. The police are more concerned with catching people speeding then cleaning up that place. Such a shame.

I received an £80 fine from Colwyn Bay police. As I have just be made redundant I asked if I could pay it off at £10 a week. I was told no you cannot. The only way you can pay it off weekly is to let the fine due date pass then you will recive a letter informing you the payment has now gone up to £120, then I can pay it off at £10 a week. So basically it is pay up now. Looks like there will be no food this week then.

Colwyn Bay has been awarded Fairtrade status as a town by the Fairtrade foundation. Well done to all those hard working volunteers who promoted the idea and a special thanks to all those organisations and businesses who embraced the Fairtrade ethic.

Axe the town centre manager. Llandudno and Rhyl cope without one and look how they're progressing. £8000 on an inflatable Santa, £30,000 on town centre ice ring, £30,000 on town centre manager wages and expenses, and yet if any of business wants a helping hand you're told to p..s off.

Fairtrade Town, really? is that what will really make Colwyn Bay a successful town? Perhaps you would be better spending time and money on making the bay attractive to visitors. Station road is a disgrace. It looks tired and dirty. Simple steps by the council to smarten up the streets would not cost vast monies. i.e No newspapers allowed to be placed in empty shop windows. Landlords made to keep premises clean and tidy.
please do not walk along Station Road and look up at the filthy windows. Where does it tell you about the heritage of the Bay? How do visitors know there is a free bus to the Mountain Zoo? Why would anyone want to come to the Bay?
The Bay is small enough to be the jewel in the crown of the North Wales coast. It needs foresight and passion not another year of road works to put off even more of the few tourists that we have.Does anyone at the council know the history of the Bay. If so why is this not promoted to its full advantage. I would say it is not promoted because the council are ashamed of how run down they have allowed the Bay to become.

In Colwyn Bay there are over 4000 households paying on average £1,000+ per year in Council Tax. This contributes arround £4,000,000 to the council budget in residential income alone. I would like to point out the reduction in services offered from our council, while our council tax bills have increased.
Public toilets in Colwyn Bay - Landsdown Road have closed and been knocked down, as well as the Abergele Road toilets. The Douglas Road toilets have been closed for over 12 months.
Our town has just benefited from a £1.5 million refit from European funding to repave Greenfield Road, Seaview Road, Station Road. The sea defence work due to commence soon is also financed 100% by the convergence funding. yet again funding has not come from our council.
The recent slipway to accommodate the jet skis is another scheme funded by Europe. Dan's Den skatepark was part financed via European funding. We as a community in our various forms, from resident associations to churches and societies, are forced to further spend our own time and money doing the jobs the council should be doing.
For example Glyn Ward North Residents' Association cleaned up the boating lake in 2007, Friends of the Dingle cleaned and repaired the whole of the accessible Dingle River area. Old Colwyn Environmental Trust replaced the Min y Don park with a nice pleasant one. Local church groups recently cleared Llanelian Cemetery and cleared the boating lake in Eirias Park.
The list goes on and on. So where's the money going? Can any of the councillors tell me where the funding is going?
