Alurus fulgens fulgens, Red Panda
Puyi and Bron have been so persistent with stealing the otters' food that the otters are being fed three times a day to ensure they're getting food, and being observed while eating just to make sure.
The red pandas have also had their dose of wormer, like the snow leopards. But the red pandas only weigh around 6kg so they receive 0.33g of Panacur Equine granules.
Again this is sprinkled onto the food. Unlike the snow leopards the red pandas share their food in one food bowl. So it is harder to ensure they both get the right amount of wormer.
Also the red pandas rarely finish a whole bowl between them. So the day before they get their food as early as possible and then the next day as late as possible to ensure they are hungry and then they only get a few pieces of their favourite fruit with the wormer on (both doses) while we watch them eat. Once they have completely finished they then get a full bowl of fruit.
With all the terrible windy and wet weather the zoo has experienced, both Puyi and Bron have been tucked up in their beds, which I don't blame them for, but it does mean there is nothing to report on their behaviour as they've been not visible for a couple of weeks.
Sorry guys, maybe when the weather cheers up they'll be more action to report on.
