I remember going to the pier as a teenager to see bands such as sounds inc, the Escorts, Hermans Hermits and local group the Anglesey strangers. I also used to go and watch the wrestling with stars such as Masambula, Mick McManus and Jackie Pallo. Those were the days!

My father used to repair the wooden planks on the pier in the 50s-60s. He worked for Cubbon's based in Erw Wen Road Colwyn Bay. I also remember going to Bob bananas Pantomimes as a child. Also Pendorlan School used to have their Speech Days there, also their bi-annual Eisteddfod.

The pier was a big part of my life up to the age 18, played under and on the steel bars, fished on it, and got sloshed many times, also done gymnastic displays in the 50s in the ballroom with the Friendship Club, who did panto on it. So much I could say, alas the Queen called on me for national service, or possibly I could still be at home using the pier.

I remember going to the pier in the 1960s to see groups like Swinging Blue Jeans, Nashville Teens, Kubics, Angelsea Sstrangers, TNTs and many more. What a fantastic place it was ,all the hopes and dreams were expressed in music and a few two many pints of beer from the Pier Bar which was located around the corner from the entrance to the dance floor. I don't think there will be another time like it, I hope the pier can be bought back to it's former glory and not lose what it used to have.
