i now live on the mull of kintyre, on a wee smallholding with a view for miles up a sea-loch. it is a beautiful area, but my memories always take me back to the betws area...machno valley, capel curig ,ogwen valley ,and the salmon leaping up the pont-y-pair fall . my son is a successful builder who still lives in the conwy valley, i dont think he will ever leave, and i dont blame him

I have just returned home from a great week in Wales, but more importantly a wonderful 3 days staying at the Eagles Hostel in Penmachno, minutes from B y C. The whole area is just wonderful, beautiful scenery, friendly and warm people. I didn't want to leave and will definitely return!

The best place in the area. We stayed a night in a holiday village up the road in Llanrwst. Bad mistake, then we found the gem of the Conwy Valley. Betws y coed really is a lovely place to stay.

I lived in Capel Garmen in 1953-1956, went to school in Llanrwst, I thought at the time, coming from Liverpool and Llandudno) "what am I doing here", now being older I realize how quiet and easy life was in those days, not like todays helter skelter world. I used to pick mushrooms on the mountain side of Capel Garmen by the basket and sell them to a hotel in Betws-y-coed. In those days we had lots of snow, I would ride my bike on that road from the mountain like a racer, boy did I go fast coming down that mountain, sometimes three of us on it. In Capel Garmen there was one pub and one store a bus twice a week to Llanrwst. Wish one could go back.

Opposite Swallow Falls Waterfall there are now loads of facilities, previously there was just a bar with no accommodation, now there is a bar, cafe, hotel, shop, fudge pantry, campsite and youth hostel, dog friendly too!

I think Betws-y-coed is a great day out! I love sunbathing on the wide piece of grass and having a game of football!

I love Betws-y-coed. The waterfalls are my favorite place. When I was little my parents always went to Betws-y-coed. Now my dad lives in Llanbedrgoch. I was unable to go to Betws-y-coed because in January they had floods. Missing home.
