As students in Bangor we are lucky to have a wealth of various accommodations.
Student halls range from the cosy community based self-catering, to the exec ensuite data point connection catered halls, with a vast range in between. For details on exact pricing and specifications I suggest you visit www.welcomebangor.co.uk.
Halls are situated in a half dozen sites throughout Bangor so you can take your pick of excellent scenic views - and all are within five minutes walk of local shops, amenities and lecture halls.
Bangor also has a good range of private housing, with houses ranging from two-bedroomed cottage terraces to eight-bedroom Georgian houses. If you're considering private housing for the first time I recommend that you visit the Student Union Advice Centre or Student Services Accommodation Office, where advice is offered on a range of housing related issues.
My personal advice to all students is to give yourself a chance to settle in and find your feet, if you are unhappy with where you are staying, seek advice.

I've just booked a room at Neaudd Willis. I was very impressed with the facilities and the staff were very helpful. I'm going into my third year and they've matched me up with other 3rd years, which is great

I'm in Neuadd Willis too. I did have a room booked in a house, but when my Dad saw it he wouldn't let me stay there and he found Neuadd Willis for me. Boy, am I glad. It's really lovely! I'm booking again for 09, and I've asked to be put in a room with other students doing their finals. But in the meantime, I'm realy happy with the good party atmosphere in my flat.

I'm in Rathbone. Nearly cried when I saw my room. My best mate saw my reaction and immediately started putting pictures up. By the time she leaving, I realised the room wasn't so bad. Now, not even a week later, I love the place! It's a shock, but you just make it your own. Everyone so far in Rathbone is lovely. They're making my uni so far!

I stayed at the Neuadd Willis site last year. It is really great! Fantastic facilities and they're building another site across the road. The staff are really caring, nothing is too much trouble.

I lived in St Mary's 1998-9 and it was fantastic! Old buildings, but much bigger rooms than the new builds and much cheaper. I would definitely recommend shared bathroom and kitchen facilities - best way to make friends quickly! The hill kept us fit and was no major problem! Best years, fond memories. xx

I've just finished living in Neuadd Arfon on the Normal site and I wouldn't change it for the world. Yeah its old but the people you meet there are amazing. The kitchen got dirty, but it would no matter where you are, especially as there were 12 people sharing mine. Sharing bathroom facilities wasn't a problem either. If I wasn't living there for my first year with such amazing views of the Straits for my first year, I doubt very much that i would be going into my second year now.

I know that a lot of the halls in Bangor put people off and I was really scared when I went to look at the halls there. I chose JMJ on College Road because it's a Welsh speaking hall and I can honestly say that even though it stank and looked grotty it was the best year ever! I now live in a house with the 5 bestest ever friends, all of whom I met at JMJ. It just goes to show that the state of the accommodation doesn't determine how happy you're going to be there.

I lived in Llys Tryfan and absolutely loved it. Okay, so it's not ensuite, but I knew that when I applied for halls. But the community spirit in the old blocks is amazing - sharing kitchen and toilet facilities is a pretty good way to bond. The old halls are being knocked down over the next couple of years and replaced by shiny new ones, and I'll be sorry to see Llys Tryfan go.

I lived in Bangor between 1999 and 2003 and loved every minute of it. Honestly, I've visited most of the top unis around the country to visit friends over the years, and none of them have either the beauty or the community spirit of Bangor. Accomodation varies just like any student town, as long as you take a good look around, you'll always find somewhere great.

Lived in Arfon on Normal Site for my first 2 years. The rooms look a bit scary to start off with but it was the most fantastic 2 years ever. Don't be put off by being all girls, it means you make more friends and have more girlie nights in. Can't fault the place and only wish i stayed there for my final year instead of moving to the crescent!!!

My sister is currently in the Llys Tryfan halls of residence and is not enjoying the experience. The halls have been there for ages, as my mum was there 30 years ago, and they were about 20 years old then. The place constantly has broken toilets, smashed windows, and sometimes students have to go a week without central heating. These halls were supposed to be knocked down years ago yet the university still can't find places to put these students, so they leave them standing!
Not only are the older halls of residence a disgrace, but the newer halls are not the best of places to live. One of the tower blocks has started to subside as it has been built too tall for the foundations to cope with and complaints have started to filter out about the conditions.
Apart from that it's great!

I graduated from Bangor 18 months ago. I loved my time there. I was originally placed in Neuadd Rathbone, which was awful - terrible room, terrible people. I was fortunate enough to be able to move to St Mary's. I had a beautiful attic room with a fantastic view. People whinge about Mary's because of the hill, but it really isn't that bad. I met some great people in Mary's, and was able to stay there with them for the whole time I was studying in Bangor. I loved living in Bangor, sure it may not be as lively as somewhere like Leeds, but my experience was a good one. Best years of my life so far!
