Weird Bala

Cottage

Last updated: 27 April 2006

Are you brave enough to tell everyone of your ghoulish encounters around the area of Bala? There's no need to keep it bottled up!

Luke's story - My mum was visiting Lake Bala in Wales, when she felt a very vivid sensation of walking into the lake, carrying on walking and feeling the cold water weighing down her full, heavy clothing. She 'felt' that she just kept walking into the water knowing that she was going to drown. She was very scared near the lake after that. She thought she had experienced a drowning from the past.

Beki's story - Once we went on holiday to Wales and we were staying in a cottage in the middle of nowhere. At night we heard these weird noises and when we told Mum she said it was just the sheep in the field so we believed that, but the next night we heard it again and this time a telly as well. The noises were coming from downstairs so me and my little bro crept downstairs. In the living room were sat an elderly couple. They turned and looked at us and disappeared just as I screamed. To this day my mum still thinks I was seeing things.

I went to Bala two years ago with friends and my son and stayed in a very old cottage where it had rooms with a back staircase that came to a room that just didn't go with the rest of the cottage, no one went in the room or used the stairs because of the eerie atmosphere in there. as night time came and we all went to bed, i awoke with the strong smell of vomit and people talking but when i checked all were asleep. The next night i saw light in the bedroom and they passed through the walls to the next room. although i experienced these happening i would gladly go back.

My partner and I had a cottage overlooking Bala Lake with hardly any other homes around. I used to wake up often in the early hours, to music playing, it sounded as if it was in the distance but when I went outside the music couldn't be heard, but when I went back to bed I could hear it again. The music sounded like choir music and was very sad. I would wake my partner but he could not hear it. We still live in Bala but not in the same cottage and I don't hear it any more.
