Last updated: 08 November 2007

Abergele University of the Third Age (U3A) art club meets every Friday at Abergele Community Centre. Here this enthusiastic group of 50+ painters display some of their work and explain what inspired them to pick up a paint brush.

I used to be good at drawing aeroplanes and ships at school so I particularly like painting buildings. The trouble is, the medium for buildings should be acrylic and I'm currently learning in watercolour, so I need to switch soon to be able to capture the detail.

I especially like painting old churches; huge cathedrals might be a lot to take on, but some of the smaller churches round here would be a great challenge for me. John Pollard
