Abersoch is a tourist destination, there's not a lot that you can do to change that but more investment for the younger locals does need to be done. Having said that the village is a fantastic place with lots going on and if you travel 7 miles down the road to Pwllheli you can see what happens when the well off aren't investing in an area.
Go to 5 Degrees West on 30th August for a great night typical of Abersoch where Fran & Josh, The Kickbacks and the Villains will be playing LIVE at Breeze Rocks.

During the recent lovely weather I saw several incidents of jet skies harassing swimmers and body boarders playing in the waves at both Hells mouth (Porth Neigwl) and Porth Ceried, several people had to come out of the water because of this. On busy days this needs to be stopped or someone will be hurt.

I can see both sides of many of the opinions about Abersoch. We too have been holidaying here for many years and our children and their partners love it too. We tend to come earlier or later in the year when it is quieter and you can usually bet that the weather will come up trumps too! It can't be easy putting up with the brattish behaviour of the some of the rich kids spending their summers there and the lack of housing for youngsters is a problem - but not just for Welsh people. Young people in all parts of the UK have this problem and quite a proportion of property owned by the Wirral and Manchester contingent would be above the budget of many of us. Also the local people need to realise that the local economy must benfit from tourism. You only have to view the webcams out of season to see how quiet the area is. My husband and I would love to retire to the area. We have known it for 26 years and would be happy to be anywhere on the peninsula if we too could afford the property. My husband is half Welsh and we have made an effort to learn a few words of the language. But gosh it is hard to learn! By the way, if you want to see the hordes behaving badly, come to Scarborough in August.

I've been visiting the area since I was a young child and it's become a huge part of my life, and where I feel happiest. The whole peninsula is a must-visit location, but many locals resent tourists and truly believe that they 'own' the area, even though local business benefits hugely from the tourist trade. The toffs and rich kids do clog up the village during the holidays and fuel the resentment somewhat.Ironically, a large amount of the local youth leave the area and migrate towards Manchester & Liverpool for work. And no, we don't give this a second thought. My advic! e would be to meander out of the village and tour the whole Penninsula. It's a truly stunning, peaceful place to be.

For the last few years we have had a caravan pitched at Abersoch, but are thinking of moving it as Aber is becoming too full of rich people in their 4x4s and during the summer holidays it's a nightmare.Roll on September/October when we get the beach and village back.Anyone have any suggestions for seasonal caravan pitches in North Wales, Conwy/Anglesey etc?

Abersoch is just full of people from Manchester and Merseyside for the best part of the year. Why don't they go to Blackpool? Abersoch is no longer Welsh, it is another part of England.

As a child we used to holiday in Abersoch every year - I loved those holidays. I last went in 2000 and it felt very different - lots of jet skis and noise. If we ever come back to the UK for a holiday it would have to include a trip to Abersoch to show my kids where we used to holiday.

I believe that Abersoch has grown too large and why would people with great amount of money go to Abersoch , instead you could go to Spain for the same price and more sun! One Static Caravan sold at £500,000 in Warren for what make shift home?

I saw a poem called Abersoch and, although I have found two or three, none of them is the one I saw. Is there a book of poetry I can look at?

Abersoch is one of the most beautiful places in the UK. I love the fact that Abersoch has the best of both worlds. I found it to be well presented and well balanced too - lots of gorgeous countryside and hills, like in The Lakes, yet lots of gorgeous beaches too. The village was picturesque and like you would expect to find a country village, quiet and relaxed, however there were very modern aspects too like the odd trendy bar, restaurant and shop. I have stayed in similar places that during the day have been nice and relaxing yet by night very loud and busy and I think this spoils it a bit. There was no danger of this in Abersoch though. Very nicely done!

We have lived in Bwlch Tocn / Abersoch for over 10 years now. Their is a need for more local housing and a strategic plan to enable locations like Pwllheli Marina to grow to enable more inward investment and to attract people to live in the area and to retain younger people who at the moment, leave to live elsewhere.
In Abersoch their is a fantastic community spirit and whilst we could do with a greater spread of shops not just selling surfing gear the investment in the centre of abersoch is impressive with two new shops opened this year
