The Abergele and District Floral Club, pictured celebrating their ruby anniversary, was formed in 1963 when the first demonstrator was Iona Trefor-Jones, of international fame, who gave her services for the inaugural meeting.
The club meets on the first Monday of each month (except Bank Holidays when it is usually the second Monday) at St Paul's Chapel Schoolroom at 7.30pm. There is usually a floral demonstration by a NAFAS area or national demonstrator, and a raffle is held for the arrangements. Refreshments are served.
Once a year a workshop is held for those wishing to learn a new idea in flower arranging, and there is a members' night when a few members show their talent! The club is invited to help with flower festivals in the vicinity, giving those interested an opportunity to partake. Some members take part in competitions at local shows, and others like to just come along and enjoy watching at the monthly meetings.
Membership is £20 per year. Visitors £4 per visit. New members are most welcome. Call 01745 832237 or email chairman Mrs Jane Hunter, Betws yn Rhos, at huntershamiet@aol.com.
